Generally you would use a strap wrench to hold the armature, but if you don't have one use an old piece of rubber and wrap around armature and then gently hold in a vise to take off. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Could you please help me repair my Makita angle grinder?

The problem will be removing the inner bearing ring from the armature. You will need to source a suitable bearing puller from a hire shop or possibly get one made.
It will look like a tube with a slot in the side.
The bottom will have a plate welded on it, also with a slot.
The slots allow the puller to pass over the armature enabling the puller to centralise over the shaft,
The top of the puller will have a plate welded on with a hole through the centre. On this plate is welded a nut.
A bolt will pass through the nut and contact the armature shaft.
with the puller centrally located over the armature and the bottom plate in contact with the bearing the bolt is tightened to pull the bearing up.
I have made a puller similar to this from an old spark plug socket (good quality from as socket set) but it may not be long enough for your application.

How to remove the chuck from a porter cable router?

To remove the collet (not the collet nut) you must first take apart the armature from the field.
To do this,
1. Take the cap off the top by removing the two Phillips screws.
2. Remove the two brushes.
3. Remove the two Phillips screws hidden under the cap.
4.The only thing holding the top and bottom pieces now is a friction fit of the bearings. Tap with a non marking hammer on the top housing underneath the brush holders, and it should come apart after a few taps.
5.Use an armature split sleeve and put the armature sleeve in a vice to hold the armature.
6.Then use a wrench and unscrew the collet from the armature.
7. Just reverse this process to put it back together.

Noises like that are usually a bearing going, or gone, bad. If you keep running it eventually the alignment of the armature will be off enough to make contact with the field and one or both will get damaged enough to warrant replacement. Bearings run between $7 to $15 to replace. Armatures are $175 and Fields are $110 for your router.

Replace armature, I have it all apart except I can't see how to release armature from base.

The armature bearings fit very snugly in their holders. If you have the case split and the belt drive pully off, you just have to pry the armature out of the other bearing holder. If you are replacing the entire armature and the new one has a fan on it just pry it out. If the new armature doesn't have a fan on it be careful not to break the fan or any of the fins. It should pull out smoothly, if it doesn't come out with even pressure you still have something on the armature holding it in.

Porter cable 7310 has broken spindle lock. THis is a brand new router and the spindle lock pin is broken and the motor will not spin. what is the best way to fix this

you would have to remove the bottom section of the motor housing. this would require removing the collet nut and the screws holding the housing in place. I would suggest going to "dewaltservicenet.com" and downloading a breakdown before attempting. It is not really that hard if you are mechanically inclined. The pin is more than likely jammed into the armature shaft that locks and that is why the motor won't turn. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Router runs slow

I still think that it is the bearings, especially since of the squealing noise which is a symptom of the bearing seizing up and the armature shaft would get hot transferring the heat to the motor housing. Give me the model number and brand and I will find a breakdown and part numbers for you and also if you give me your general location I will try and find someone local to get the parts.
