I've just gone wireless. I set up my Belkin router as described on the web page. It works ... sort of. Many times when I want to go wireless I have no Internet access. I must plug my computer into the router. This isn't normal, is it?

Someone pressed the reset button on my belkin n600 db n+ router, and now I can't get it to work with my laptop! Help

It just clears any custom settings, and the laptop IP may still be cached (in memory).

From the laptop go to Start > Search (Run in XP) and type cmd ENTER. In the command prompt type ipconfig /release ENTER. Then type ipconfig /renew ENTER. This just refreshes your IP. Test it. Remember custom network and password are gone.
There is a paper tab underneath the unit with the default wireless name and password.
Use a network cable computer to access web interface. 192.168.2.1 to see that information as well. No user or password for the web page.

Hi my wireless router is not working..i need security key for that..how can i get that key

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa! The security key for the Belkin router is what they also called the Pre-Shared Key, it maybe in the form of word, phrase or series of letters and numbers. The key must be between 8 and 63 characters long and can include spaces and symbols, or 64 Hex (0-F) only. Each client that connects to the network must use the same key (Pre-Shared Key).

1. Click on the green Belkin Router Manager icon (right-click for Windows) to open the menu, or type 192.168.2.1 into a web browser.

2.On the Belkin Router Manager menu, scroll up to Router Settings and highlight.

3.Click to open the Belkin Router Setup page on your Web browser.

4. You must log in with a password to make changes to your Router's settings. If you have not yet set a custom up a password, leave this field blank and click the "Submit" button.

5. Click the Wireless > Security link from the page menu on the left-hand side.

6. On the Wireless > Security page, you can retrieve your password(s) from the fields to the right of the Pre-shared Key (PSK) > entry.

7. Uncheck the Obscure PSK box to view and retrieve your password(s).

8. Re-check the Obscure PSK box to obscure your password(s).

I would like to install the belkin router without the cd the cd caused an error in widows and it locked up with a blue screen

Hello Kgmas,

You can setup the router simply by connecting to the router webpage. The default address should be 192.168.2.1; just connect to your router with an ethernet cable and then type the IP address into a web browser to access the page.

Once in the router web page you can set the administrative settings (password for the router) and you can set up your wireless network manually fairly easily.

Thanks,

Pat
