If you count the flashes, that is an error code and a Sony dealer or us can tell you the area of the fault. From that you may get a good idea as to how expensive the repair might be.
Hope this helps.

Tv shuts itself off with in seconds, why ?

Dear Michael
May I ask you for a little more info on your problem?

SONY uses self diagnoses in all their television products, this code is indicated by a fast steady flashing of the RED standby light followed by a distinct pause in the flashing.

I need you to count the amount of flashes between pauses, normally between 2 and 11 flashes. Tis will help me to assist in determining what your problem could be.

Good Luck!

The lamp light does not have to flash on this set for it to be the lamp, and most likely it is just that, the lamp. These sets when the lamps get weak they will do exactly what yours is doing.
