Make certain there is a good battery or that phantom power is turned on (on the mixer).

It's hard to tell what might be wrong with it. It will probably need to be sent to Shure for repairs.

How do you put batteries in the Shure PG81 microphones?

There is a parting line on the mic handle just below the switch. Twist the top and bottom of the microphone in opposite directions in order for the microphone to open at that parting line.

Some people mistakenly think that you need to remove the screw. You do NOT need to remove the screw.

People are unable to hear me on Skype. The built webcam on monitor is working properly, but the mic is not.

You monitor with built-in web camera may only process the video signal through the USB only, not audio from the microphone, look for analog microphone output jack to hook it up to your PC microphone input.

How to connect mixer an amp to laptop?

How is everything hooked up?

Mic to Mixer, and Mixer to Laptop? Or is your mic connected directly to your laptop?

To do this properly, you will need a secondary audio input device of some kind that accepts line level input. Microphone inputs are intended for low level signals, and are not going to accept the input form a mixer properly. (you can get it to work, but it will generally be distorted)

There are various USB or PCMCIA audio input card options that aren't too expensive. Once you have that, you would need to route your music and microphone through your mixer, and the output of the mixer to your audio input device.
