No tire or tube on rim. where do I start for trying to put the new tube and tire on?

Put a little baby powder inside the tire. Put a little air in the tube. Put the tube into the tire. Line up the valve stem with the valve stem hole in the rim. Put one edge of the tire on the rim, all of the way around. Small tire irons are useful for this. Be very careful not to pinch the tube. Once you have one side of the tire on the rim (all of the way around) then put the valve stem through the hole. Then work the second side of the tire onto the rim, finishing opposite the valve stem. The final stretching of the tire onto the rim is the hardest part, for which tire irons are the most useful (3 of them) and this is when you must be most careful not to pinch the tube. Before inflating, be sure the valve stem is straight. If it isn't, use the palm of your hand to scoot the tire around the rim slightly until the valve stem is straight. Now inflate. Good luck. Al K

How to change back innertube on 26" mongoose estes bike


First turn the adjuster on the rear brake handle all the way in and make sure the slots on the adjuster and set nut are lined up, pull the brake cable out and leave it attached to the lever to open the rear brake pads, loosen the bolts on the tire and pull the derailer up to remove the tire, remove the dustcap from tube and using a flat tool (Wal-Mart has tire tools for $1) take one side of the tire bead out of the rim, pull the old tube out, place the stem of the new tube in the hole and put the cap on, tuck the new tube in the tire trying to keep it flat as possible, push the bead of the tire back into the rim. before inflating the tire, put it back on the frame while pulling the derailer up to get the chain back on the cogs( they will adjust later) tighten the bolts and inflate the tire to desired pressure (between 35-60 psi)

Motorcycle tire and tube changes made easy


Changing your own tires isn't as duanting of a task as you may think. The first rule is having a nice pair of tire irons or spoons-not screwdrivers or prybars. I prefer spoons, but either can be purchased for 10-20 dollars from any motorcycle parts outlet. After you get your irons or spoons, don't use them for prybars or any other use other than changing tires. It's important that they stay free from nicks and scratches so they don't damage tire beads or rims and puncture tubes.
A five gallon pail makes a good tire changing stand. Place the rim and tire on top and remove the valve stem to release the air if it isn't already flat. Remove the retaining nut from the valve stem and push it into the rim. Loosen the bead locks if you have them and push them into the rim as well. Sometime these get stuck, if you need a hammer be sure not to damage the threads. Leave the nut on the top, it's not necessary to remove the rim locks just get them off the bead of the tire.Break the bead down around the entire rim and apply soapy water with a brush or I keep a spray bottle in the shop.Use plenty, it won't hurt anything. Pry the bead over the top of the rim, hold it with the spoon and move 2-6 inches around the rim and do the same thing with the other spoon. Keep repeating until you have the entire bead off one side. Flip the tire and rim and repeat the process. On the second side, once you get about 1/2 way you should have enough slack to pull the rim into the open side of the tire, grab the other side of the tire and pull it over the rim by hand, tube and all.Take soapy water and a scrub brush and clean all the dirt from the inside of the rim. Be sure to realign the rim liner so the holes line up with the valve stem.
Installing the tire and tube goes like this. Put the tube in the tire and put enough air in the tube just to give it it's proper shape and fill the tire. Remove the lock nut off the valve stem, if it has 2, leave the bottom one on. Apply plenty of soapy water to the inside of the tire ,tube and both beads.Open both sides of the tire beads at the valve stem, insert it thru the hole in the rim and install the lock nut, then lay the tire over the top of the rim. Apply more soapy water to the rim and start to pry the bottom bead over the rim from the valve stem in both directions. When you get to the rim lock, you'll need to flip it over and carefully pull the bead past it and then push it in the tire so it's in between the beads. Flip back over to the side you started on and finish the bottom bead. If it dried out apply more soapy water and start the top bead from the valve stem around in both directions.Only put the spoons in far enough to catch the edge of the rim to prevent puncturing the tube. As you start to get about 1/2 way around, compress the section of tire that's already mounted so the beads can move towards the center of the rim; that will give you some slack and make installation of the last 1/2 of the tire easier.When you get to a rim lock, you'll need to push it into the tire so the bead can get in between it and the rim.Finish the top bead, inflate it to insure the beads seat and then tighten the rim lock. Be sure not to exceed any bead seating pressure maximums listed on the tire. Let air out of the tire until the recommended pressure is achieved. Good luck!

Where in my area can I get my dirtbike tire and tube changed


Dirt bike tires are pretty easy to change yourself and all you need is to remove the tire for the bike and have at least 3 long flat head screwdrivers that are about 18" long each. You'll save yourself a couple bucks doing it yourself and get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. But any MC shop will also do it for you at a cost unless you're buing a new tire there, then they wrap the tire change into the cost of new tire you bought. But if you decide to do it yourself, here's a couple tips. There are plenty of videos out there on how to do this so here are some quick pointers.
1) let any remaining are out of the tire.
2) for a dirtbike, loosen the rim locks. (these are on some dirtbikes and you'll know if your bike has them because there will be a bolt sticking through the rim pointing towards the center of the tire. You'll have to loosen the nut on the rim lock bolt to loosen the rim lock.)
3) with all air out of the tire and the rim locks loosened, stick your first screw driver between the lip of the rim and the tire and pull back on the screw driver.
4) When you have pulled back on the screwdriver, you'll see a gap where you can then stick the next screw driver.
5) Don't try to lift too much of the tire at the beginning. there are steel bands in the tire and you don't want to snap them or destroy the rubber that surrounds the steel bands. Because if you do mess it up too much, the steel band is made up of a bunch of steel wires, and if you snap those wires, one could come through and puncture you tube when you put it back on and fill it with air. So don't take too much tire off at one time. You'll get the hand of it.
6) With one side of the tire out you can then reach inside and pull out the tube. Fill it with a enough air to expose the lead and then you can decide to replace the tube or patch it.
7) After repairing/replacing the tube, put the tire back on in the reverse order.
8) Don't inflate the tire all the way the first time. Inflate it half way and bounce the tire to get the tube to sit right.
9) Tighten the Rim locks (if you had them)
10) inflate the tire to the proper pressure.
11) Put the tire back on.

Will a new inner tube fix the leaking of a rim? If not do you know how?


if you have a tube in the tire now a new one should fix it. If there is no tube and you want to put one in then it will most likely fix it, if it is just a tire on a rim like on a car then the leak is is due to the bent rim

How do you get the rubber tire off the rim?


Get the rim / tire of the frame. Let all the air out of the tube, Using two flat blade screw drivers, put them between the rim and tire about 3 inches apart, (be careful not to puncture the tube) Pry the tire over the rim, leave one in place and move the other about 3 more inches and pry the tire over the rim again, keep moving around the rim until the side is off. Reach in and pull the tube out, fish the stem through the hole. Finish pulling the tire off the rim, you can use liquid soap to help make things easy. Put the rim back together the same way. Struggling to fit replacement inner tube and tyre to our quinny buzz3... Any tips?


You need a set of tire levers to begin with.. anyplace that sells bike parts/tubes tires will have these.. they are just a nicely set of angled thin yet dull levers.

Using the levers you will need to lift one edge of the tire off the rim so the tire is half way on the wheel. To simply replace the tube.. continue on to B.

To completely remove the tire off the wheel.. flip the wheel over and using the levers pry the tire the rest of the way off the wheel. working your way around.. it will be snug then suddenly free.

Replaceing the tire is the same..except you only want to put it on half way before inserting the tube..


B. Remove the air stem cap and if you have the tool to remove the needle valve from the stem.. do that too as to let ALL the air out of the flat.. then pull the bad tube out.

Put the new deflated tube inside the wheel as flat and wrinkle free as possible starting with placing the air stem through the wheel.. and working it around until well seated.. some folks will use a bit of talcum powder on the tube.. usually they come dusted to allow them to properly fit when inflated.

Once you have the tube in the wheel.. start pressing the tire bead back under the rim.. depending on the wheel.. you may want to partly inflate the tube.. just a tiny bit.. so it will not get trapped between the tire and wheel rim when you re-seat the tire.. you can usually re-seat the tire to the rim with your fingers..becareful not to pinch yourself.

Inspect the wheel to make sure no parts of the inner tube is visible.. inflate to proper psi.. put on the stem cap.. replace the wheel.

You can buy a set of tire liners that will prevent punctures.. but of course this involves doing most of the above times four.

Lastly.. if you feel you just can't get it done.. stop by a good bike shop.. they will do it for you in just a few minutes.. possibly for no charge or little charge.

How do you change a innertube on a back wheel of a mountain bike


You have to remove the entire wheel from the bike. Then change it just like you'd change a front tire... remove oneside of the tire from the rim, pull out bad tube, clean rim, put in new tube, put tire back on rim, inflat tube... good to go. There are 1,000,000 videos on YouTube to show you this process.

How can I get the bead to sit in the wheel rim ridge more easily, as it keeps slippng out and into the middle. Thanks


ok, first take tube and tire off rime completely....Place the tube inside the tire with just enough pressure in the tube to hold it in place (first this will eliminate any possibility of pinching the tube and will allow it to seat properly and second it will add counter pressure to help get the tire seated. Start by sliding one side of the tire onto the rim. lining up the valve stem with the hole in the rim. Then either use rim tools (best idea and they are cheap) or your hands (never use metel tools) start working the other side on starting both hands in one spot and moving each hand away from each other until they meet up again at the other side. But my best advise it to get 2 rim tools, $3.00 a piece as you can use them to lip up under the tire and pull it up and over the rim. Make the job much easier. and you can literally put a tire on in under 2 minutes.

Push bike tire


Inner tubes commonly lose air when stored for as little as a couple of months and quicker when cold. They also tend to dry out and leak as fast as you can pump. Replacement tubes are available at bike shops and even less than $6.00 bucks at Wal-Mart.

To replace(The long version,cause the short version not good):
Remove wheel from bike, trike, trailer, etc. and deflate tube completely. You will need 2 box end wrenches (the ones with the closed ends, because these are not sharp). Insert box end of wrenches next to each other between rim and and one wall of tire, now pry the wrenches back so as to pry one wall of tire to the outside of rim, now alternatingwrenches, slide wrenches away from each other to slowly walk one wall of tire outside of the rim, reach in and grasp old tube and pull it out. Now straight new tube out remove plastic fill cap(put cap in your pocket), reach in and insert filler into hole in rim, now working your way around with your fingers to push tube up into tire(carefull not to let it get twisted), now put cap back on tube so you don't loose the filler, now work your way around with your fingers to push tire back into rim, you may need to use the box end of the wrenchto help pry the last bit of tire back in(Just don't pinch the tube between wrench and rim while doing this, lest you now have a new hole to fix), now grasp filler so you don't loose it, add air to amount shown on tire, and RIDE ON!
