The Laptop will need to have Internet Sharing enabled, but yes you can plug it into the Laptops Ethernet Jack and use the Laptops Wireless to get onto X-Box Live. This will be slower however, so you will lag playing games that require a faster connection, such as Halo 3 or Call of Duty.
