The drive you are trying to backup to has run out of space, you need to make sure your backup drive/partition has enough room available for the backup your trying to run.

HARD DRIVE IS FULL

Hiii,
In my view deletion of data is the common data loss scenario from peripheral device like external storage device. These deleted files can be recovered by some of the software's which are available online. But this can be achieved if you have not continued its usage after data loss. Have you transferred any new file in your storage device??

I have purchased a new computer and want to install my rent-right. Please give me step by step instructions on what to do

To install RentRight and transfer you data onto a new computer?

Answer :
Follow this link to download and install RentRight v3 on your NEW computer: http://www.rent-right.com/support/UpdateVer3FirstTime.html

If you are not using the Internet, you will need to order a CD with the full version of RentRight to install into your new computer.

Follow this link to download and Update to the latest version of RentRight v3 on your OLD computer: http://www.rent-right.com/support/UpdateVer3.html
DO NOT change the installation directory folder. When asked if you want to write over the existing folder, reply, YES. Respond to the prompts to complete the installation.

When done, open RentRight on your old computer, go to File on the menu bar and choose BACK UP to back up your data, and save it to your Desktop.

TO BACKUP YOUR DATA:

Insert a portable storage device, such as a blank CD or USB memory stick, into your computer.

We recommend that you do not us a 3 1/2 floppy disk, because it is not reliable, and may not have a

large enough storage capacity to hold your backup.

In RentRight, click on File from your Menu bar
Select Backup

Click the Backup button

The Back Up window will open:

Use the "Save In" drop-down menu to navigate to the desired location, such as your Desktop

DO NOT BACK UP DIRECTLY TO YOUR PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE
Click on the Save button
Copy the backup that you just created, rrbackv3.zip, from your saved location to the portable storage device you inserted into your computer.

Copy and Paste the Backup Database you just created, from your Desktop to a portable storage device,

such as a cd or flash drive.

Take the portable storage device containing your backup from your old computer to your new computer, and Copy and Paste the Backup Database from your portable storage device to your Desktop.

Open RentRight on your new computer, go to File, and RESTORE your data.

TO RESTORE YOUR DATA:
1. Locate your rrbackv3.zip file

2. Right-Click on your rrbackv3.zip

3. Select 'Extract All' from the drop-down menu

4. Follow the Extraction Wizard prompts. This will create a Folder with the name rrbackv3. In this folder will be a file called 'aptment.mdb'. You may not see the .mdb file extension if you do not have this preference set. This aptment.mdb file is your Backup Database, and is the one you want to restore in RentRight.

5. Start RentRight.
6. Select File from the Menu Bar.
7. Select Restore.
8. Cancel the "insert a disk into drive A" message, unless you are using a 3 1/2 inch floppy disk. If so, insert the disk.
9. Click on the drop-down arrow in the 'Files of type' field, and select 'All Files'

10. Click on the drop-down arrow in the 'Look in' field, navigate to the aptment.mdb you just extracted, and click on it.

11. Click the Restore button

KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU CANNOT BACKUP OR RESTORE DIRECTLY BETWEEN RENTRIGHT AND A PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE.

You must backup your data to your desktop, and then copy that file from your desktop to your portable storage device, such as a disc or flash drive. The same applies for restoring from a portable storage device: you must copy that backup from your portable storage device to your desktop, and restore your data from the file copied on your desktop.

Now you need to move your license to the new computer.

You must first de-activate the license from the old computer. Go to Help/RentRight Sales on the old computer. Follow the prompts about moving from one computer to another. Next, choose the option to "Activate over the Phone". Contact us by phone at 800.964.8065 x2826, or email and provide us with the Entry Codes and Computer ID numbers for both the old and new computer. After deactivating the license on your old computer, we will give you a different activation code for the new computer.

When i try to transffer data to the sandisk sd 2gb card im getting 0x8007045d error help please

it is because your card is formated as FAT ( this means that you can only store small files on it ). To fix this do the following 1. open my computer 2. right click on th sd card 3. press format 4. in format select fat32 instead of fat 5. click format (you will lose all data currently on the card) 6. when it is finished you should be able to copy files onto it

How we can format our computer without missing our files? because in each file, a copy of that file with empty folder is present? please give me a suitable solution.....

you will have to create a backup of the files you need. you can use programs to create an image or backup of specific files /folder or directories to an external storage before proceeding to reformat the drive. In the future, you may want to creat at least 2 partition of your hard drive, 1 for the OS and 1 for data so even if you need to reinstall Windows, your data is not affected unless a complete reformat of the hard drive will be done

I am receiving the following message when I attempt to access my Western Digital My Book 500 GB: "Ox8007045D I/O Device error" I can see that my photos are still there but cannot open them or copy into the...

Happened to me too in both file backup and computer backup. I supposed MS will address in the future. For now, go to the system settings and unchecked the drives so they no longer create shadow copies . Apply the new settings to erase all existing shadow copies. Then reset by checking the boxes you unchecked. Now try to backup the whole computer again. It appears a shadow copy error is conflicting with the backup process. Once you delete all shadow copies (restore points) it will work.

System State Backup problem

That specific error pertains to "validating" your copy of Windows. you might want to validate that copy, then re-try system state.

Error copying file or folder

One of the most important yet overlooked elements of PC maintenance is data backup. If you do not perform regular backups, chances are your productivity will eventually suffer from data losses or a failed Windows installation.

All versions of Windows after 3.1 ship with a free backup utility called Microsoft Backup. It is not the best backup program available, but it may be sufficient for your needs. (Backup is better in later versions of Windows. Microsoft recommends Win98/Me users purchase a third-party utility.) If you want more control over your backups, consider purchasing a third-party program.

Backup is part of the System Tools utility. However, Setup does not install it by default in Win98/Me/XP Home. If you cannot locate Backup, visit the Microsoft support site and query for article No. 152561 (Win98), No. 264541 (WinMe), or No. 302894 (WinXP Home).

In Win98/Me, click Start, select Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click Backup. To create and run a backup, click the Create A New Backup Job radio button and click OK. Follow the prompts to create a full or partial backup. If you want to create a backup set and run it later or run an existing backup set, open Backup and click the Open An Existing Backup Job radio button and click OK. You can now access the main Backup dialog box.

In Win2000/XP, navigate to the System Tools utility and select Backup. Click the Backup Wizard button. If you do not see a Backup Wizard button, click the Welcome tab. In WinXP, the wizard will start automatically if you are in wizard mode. Follow the prompts to create your backup set.

When you reach the last dialog box, Completing The Backup Wizard, you can click the Advanced button to create a backup schedule (this option is not available in Win98/Me). When you reach the When To Back Up dialog box, select the Later radio button and click the Set Schedule button. Perform data backups on a schedule that is appropriate to the importance of your files (once a week is a common timeframe). You should also perform a system backup at least once a month.

If you do not want to use the wizard, or you are working with an existing backup, open Backup and click the Backup tab to access the main Backup dialog box.
