Hello. I have checked all of the parts and diagrams for your machine and I did not find a starting capacitor. IT is possible that the part you are looking for is called by another name, therefore I am including a link to all of the diagrams and parts lists for your machine. Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Your Kenmore freezer is made by Gibson (Frigidaire) Your model number for your freezer is 253.24092102 I believe the problem is a defective 216979700 Main Control Board Look over the 216979700 Main Control Board for signs of burn marks or heat damage. Sometimes you can see damage but not always.I need you to do a few things when you see the freezer defrosting like this. Feel the top of the compressor and see if it is becoming extreemly hot while it stops freezing and begins to melt the ice in the freezer. Here is a photo of the=> 25324092102-Compressor-Components Should your freezer compressor location number 29 in that photo be getting hot it could be a defective 216649315 Relay and Overload Kit location number 30 in that photo is the 216649315 Relay and Overload Kit Location number 55 in that photo is the 5304464438 Run Capacitor If the motherboard looks OK but the compressor is getting hot and trying to start and stop (short cycling) I would begin by first changing the 216649315 Relay and Overload Kit and the 5304464438 Run Capacitor If you could respond by answering my post I believe I will be able to help you solve this. I am here should you respond, Thanks Sea Breeze

Kenmore 70 Series Electric Dryer will not start

It sounds like the hi-limit thermostate and/or the thermal cut-off is what is causing your dryer to shut down. Basically it's over heating. You should replace these two items togeather. Also the thermal cut-off will be triggered by a grounded out heating element. Here is a diagram of where these items are located. hope this helps

My kenmore 60831 refrig isn't running the lights are on but no fan or compressor

Most likely it is the start relay or start capacitor - both are located close to the compressor. If you go to the searspartsdirect.com web site and plug in the model number off the id tag in your refrigerator you can find both parts.

is there any function at all? if not, check thermal fuse located inside near control panel, check www.searspartsdirect.com and enter your model # to show how to take it apart. If it has functional display lights, replace main control board after ohm test on wash motor and fill valve.

Dryer won't start

capacitors are generally located quite close to the motor, and are easily changed, once you have gained access to the inside of the machine, that i can not help you with, it does sound like a capacitor but it could have also damaged the motor by trying to run it repeatedly, stop trying to use the appliance and change the capacitor, change with one the right size only, work with safety remove plug when working on appliances, if i have helped rate me please
