The upgrade process can be a coincidence with what happened here , but since the laptop was shut down manually that may have cause some damage on it .
What you can do here is to drain the power first from it by taking the battery out from it for about 10 , ten put it back in and power the laptop on and check if it will be fine now and also listen when you power it On if there;s any beep sound that you will hear that will help us check what is the problem now.
