Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Fisher paykel dish drawer

Bottom motor sounds horrible. Used the diagnostic and got F1 code. I assume that was because there was water in the basin because the motor couldn't pump it out? Do I need a motor? Can I replace it myself?

Thank you reg501, but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the impeller. It certainly turns freely. I couldn't see what engages the impeller though (in the sump)?

The motor impeller is located inside the tub.
To remove/inspect:
1. Remove dishrack and filter
2. Twist the strainer lock ring counterclockwise to disengage.
3. Lift and remove strainer and lock ring assembly
4. Remove impeller, inspect for damage and/or debris in sump.
Hope this helps....

The F1 code is retained in memory as the most recent fault (may have happened awhile ago) and may not be related to the current issue.
However FYI

F1 code can be caused by several things:
1. Defective lid motor(s)...Each drawer has two lid motors that pull the lid tight to the drawer when the cycle is started. (this was very common on early models)
2. Something too tall was placed in the drawer preventing the lid from closing completely.
OR
3. (only seen this once) the drain hose developed a crack causing water to leak only when draining.

F1 error on Fisher and Paykel Dish Drawer

Sorry did not see your problem report earlier. If you have checked the sensor under the bottom drawer and it is dry, then F1 is caused by top drawer power filter fault. This means the bottom drawer controller is giving the F1 error but the top drawer controller has no power. Can you confirm this.

F1 is a flood code. There are several reasons this could be happening. One, make sure that you are not putting dishes in that are too tall for the drawer and possibly keeping the lid from closing all the way.
Also, on those models, there is a device behind the drawer that guides the hoses and wiring as you open and close the drawer. On older models, this link support was made of nylon and would crack and break loose over time. Then the broken end gets jammed under the back of the lid the next time it is used.
Since the machine is now "wet" it will not stop doing the F! and you should hear the sound of both drain pumps running. The machine is trying to drain itself and it will not allow any other input. It needs to be serviced. Other techs will give bad advice about "just take out the lower drawer and dry up the flood sensor"
Avoid this advice like the plague. There's a reason it got wet and that needs to be determined. There is a diagnostics procedure to make sure the lid motors are operational. This machine should only be serviced by a properly trained Fisher Paykel tech, as many independent techs fancy themselves as Fisher Paykel techs and they know enough to be dangerous...

F1 is a flood code meaning excessive amounts of water have collected on the bottom catch basin.
If a flood condition is detected, both draws will activate the drain motors and flash F1.
Remove the bottom drawer by pulling the lock pins on each lower side corner. Slide down and remove front cover. Release the drawer slide clips and remove drawer then dry the catch basin.
There are three possible scenarios for this error code;
1. Defective lid motor(s)...Each drawer has two lid motors, attached to the cabinet on either side of the drawer, that pull the lid tight to the drawer when the cycle is started. (this was very common on early models)
2. Something too tall was placed in the drawer preventing the lid from closing completely.
3. (only seen this once) the drain hose developed a crack causing water to leak only when draining.

Fisher and Paykel dd605 The flood switch has tripped and is showing "F1 with spanner" on the display turned of for 24 hr still there pumps just running . this problem happened aftr my son put cloths...

F1 is a flood code meaning excessive amounts of water have collected on the bottom catch basin. If a flood condition is detected, both draws will activate the drain motors and flash F1. Remove the bottom drawer and dry the catch basin.

TURN OFF POWER TO MACHINE
Remove the front panel by removing two "pins". There is one on each side of the drawer, and they are at the bottom and circular with a recessed tab - like an inverted slotted screw.
You just pull the tabs straight out. After that you pull the front down and out.
Drawer is removed by depressing the tab on each side and sliding the support guide back.
Use a towel to remove excess water pooling, then a hair dryer to speed up the evaporation process of the remaining water.

Dish drawer leaks

The f1 is a flood error. There is a sensor in the bottom reading water. You have to dry it out before you can do anything or the drain pump will just keep running. Check the lid of the drawer you where using to see if anything may have been holding it up or if the seal is torn. If that looks ok you will have to check the lid actuators to see if one is not working. I would replace both right and left if one is out.
