Question about Manfrotto 745MF3 Tripod

1 Answer

701RC2 going on 745B sticks

Can't figure out how to remove the existing head (which appears to be a telescope or surveyor's mount of some kind; has #18050, and many incremental marking for degrees), so I can install my new 701 head.  Any suggestions?

Hey SkipHall,
As in most Manfrotto tripods this tripod should have 3 set screws underneath the head mounting surface. Unscrew these set screws and you should be able to unscrew the current head off the tripod by holding the center column and turning the head counter clockwise. Installation of the new head should be the reverse. I hope this helps!

How to use the telescope and set it to see images

It depends on what kind of telescope you have.

The method of use is somewhat different.

Also we have to know what kind of mount you have,

equatorial or alta-zimuth.

Does your telescope have a go-to computerized mount.

The simple answer for a manually controlled telescopoe is:

1. Put in an eyepiece that has the highest number printed on its side - usually 25 mm, or 26 mm -

2. Aim the telescope at what you want to see in the night sky.

You can aim by sighting with your eye along the length of the telescope or by using the finder scope (a tiny telescope usually attached to the body of the main telescope).

3. After finding a target to look at, turn the focussing knobs slowly in one direction - if the image is getting blurrier then turn the knob in the opposite direction. Do this slowly and gently, until the image looks sharp.

4. Start by looking at a large target such as the moon. It is very easy to find and to aim at.

5. Get some books on beginning amateur astronomy. You can find a wide selection of these at your local library, or Google the internet for information of amateur astronomy.

I hope the above outline helps you to get started.

Where can I ontain a copyof the original User's Manual please?

From a Konus dealer-- however this appears to be a simple refractor telescope on an equatorial mount. ANY manual for a similar telescope can be used--

Here are all of meade's manuals. Look under the REFRACTOR heading for one that is similar to your scope.

Trying to set up telescope 40-114675. do not understand the manual.Unsure where the parts go for this model. How can I figure out which scale is which and what all the other parts are?

For SURE do not follow the picture posted on this page! Fixya shows the tube mounted backwards! and pointed at the ground. The focuser is on the UP end of the telescope.

Also an equatorial mount must be polar aligned before it can be used. Look at these web sites and read my TIPS on my profile page.

I inherited a blue Skywatcher telescope about 4 years ago without instructions . it has D = 70mm and F = 900 mm printed on the side . it came with two eye peices and extender and a 45 Degree 'erecting...

Any manual for a 70mm (refractor?) style telescope will show you how to set this up. You never said what type of mount the scope is on-- Altitude-Azimuth, up down left right--- or an equatorial mount??

Anyway Meade has manuals for all of their telescopes available for free download. Go to the Meade site listed below and look under the REFRACTOR heading (or the 4.5 inch REFLECTOR) heading for one that is similar to your scope. They are all assembled and used in a similar fashion.

and look at my TIPS on my profile page-- and read this web site-- to learn about the types of telescopes and mounts:

Need a manual or a phone number for the company

As you can see from the ONE review here:

A manual does not exist for this imported telescope. This is just one of DOZENS of brands imported from China.

It is a reflector style telescope on an equatorial mount. The mount must be polar aligned in order to be used.

Equatorial Mount

You will find hundreds of articles on how to use this telescope. Read my TIPS on my profile page and also read this web site:

302003 tasco manual needed

Yes, there is already a link posted on Fixya-

This appears to be a small 60mm refractor style telescope on an equatorial mount. The mount must be polar aligned in order to use it properly. Beginners should never buy an EQ mounted telescope as their first telescope.

However I have instructions on aligning the mount on the star Polaris on my profile page in the TIPS section. Read those instructions, and find a local Astronomy club. The members can help you with that telescope.

You will not find a manual. However you have a reflector that is mounted on an equatorial mount. Meade has a very similar telescope and maintains a web site for all of their telescopes. Look under REFLECTOR heading for one that is similar to your telescope. They all assemble in a similar fashion.

this one is very similar:
