You can purchase a generic/ universal pressure switch from www.grainger.com or ebay. Just look for the correct fittings and pressure cutout. Cost about $20. Before you order a new switch you should test that motor and pump are ok. Jump the wires on the pressure switch temporarily so line-in is connected to motor line. When you connect cord to wall plug the compessor should start and begin to fill. If function ok then order switch. If the motor does not start, may not be switch. Good luck

How do you addapt a different switch when it is bolted down with 4 bolts and a sized diafram below it. When you disassemble the switch it comes appart in pieces and is difficult to reassemble.

Leaking in-tank check valve will cause air to continually leak out of unloader valve at pressure switch. Remove brass/steel fitting at tank and check seat for debris or replace as needed. You can use generic valve just watch fitting sizes. Available at www.grainger.com. Good luck

Go to: www.searsparts.com
The pressure control switch which the compressor usually pumps into and is mounted on the tank, contains a backflow check valve, the pressure regulator switch, and a compressor pressure release valve. It's probably available only as a complete unit. The pressure switch itself is usually a microswitch that can be obtained locally at a hardware or appliance parts house. Make sure that the pressure switch adjustment hasn't been set higher than the compressor can reach. If you remove the cover, you can watch for mechanical movement at the switch when it is supposed to shut off. Don't poke at anything in there with metal tools--220 volts will give you a lethal shock!

I broke the red on off switch, on my preasure switch

IF YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE ON/OFF SWITCH ON YOUR PRESSURE SWITCH JUST REPLACE THE PRESSURE SWITCH WITH A NEW ONE FROM ANYWHERE - ONE THAT HAS THE SWITCH ON THE SIDE. TAKE YOUR OLD PRESSURE SWITCH WITH YOU TO MATCH IT. IF IT HAS SOME FANCY SWITCH MADE INTO THE COVER YOU CAN ADD THE PRESSURE SWITCH WITH THE SWITCH ON THE SIDE OR JUST BYPASS IT ALL TOGETHER. IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE TO BE THERE, THE COMPRESSOR WILL SHUT OFF AT CUTOFF PSI ANYWAY AND YOU COULD UNPLUG IT TO KEEP IT FROM RUNNING WHEN YOUR NOT USING IT. THE PRESSURE SWITCH W/ ON/OFF ON THE SIDE IS VERY AVAILABLE. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY

Craftsman compressor won't cycle off

Hi, First, I think the cutoff pressure is 135psi and there is an overpressure valve so let it run a little longer. I don't know exactly which model you have ( some of these were oil less) but if it is running longer than you remember, be sure to check the oil if necessary, make sure you are not using a long extension as this will cause the motor to slow down and definitely check to make sure the water is drained and the drain petcock is closed all the way. Also check it without an air hose attached. Good Luck!

Craftsman 25 gallon compressor wont cut off

The pressure switch has snap action contacts that are opened by a diaphragm pushing against a spring mechanism. Unplug the compressor and remove the cover to the switch and look for the contacts. Make sure that they are not welded together from use. Move the on/off lever to see if they open and close. You may have welded contacts or broken mechanism within switch. A factory replacement is expensive, however if you are a tinker-er you can use a lower price generic pressure switch available on ebay. Switches are sold by pressure range, you need a 120#. Fittings may need tweaking. Enjoy

Does this trip on pressure or is it a breaker tripping? If you took off the intake then there is no pressure build up, thus it wouldn't trip the pressure switch. But would at the same time add a load to the motor. First check and make sure motor is wired properly, then check that pressure switch is wired properly and is adjusted to the right pressure. I don't believe that the intake tube would be clogged, it's a straight hole into the tank. But could be a possibility.
