Usually this is a pump seal. Replace it and before start up, put 4 cups of water in the unit or burn the new seal...

Coolant leaks around water pump area ,does,nt over heat.

Your water pump has a weep hole that indicated it is starting to go bad. Look at the lower part of the water pump while engine is running just below and behind where is says (THREADED SHAFT) when engine is fully warmed up if water pump is going out there should be antifreeze in this area leaking down onto the crankshaft pulley. In RED is where to look for antifreeze.

How can i tell if my waterpump is bad? shut the car off and came out later to anti freeze in the driveway

If it's leaking that bad, open the hood take off radiator cap and fill with water (without making a mess and spilling a bunch. Then simply watch for where the leak is at, if it's leaking from a hose, the radiator, or from around the area where the belt is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. If it's leaking from the passenger side around the belt area your water pump is the most common cause. They are made so when the bearing wears out around the shaft the pulley bolts, it has what are called weep holes and the water just runs out to tell you to replace the water pump.

I fill it up and it takes two or three days to leak out.I have tried stop leak and dye, check all the hose connect with water in a spray bottle. Is there a other test i can do.

If this is a water leak check water pump diaphram (the hole in the bottom of pump) if you see water around this area replace water pump. Also check water pump gaskets for leak.Or have it pressure tested.

97 chevy 1500 coolant leak

It is the water pump most likely, they have ,what they call a weep hole in the bottom under the pulley,so they will leak out to let you know to change them right away.If it is on the top coming from the intake area,it would be the intake, they are also bad to leak, but look at the pump, under the pulley.

Slow leak

The water pump should have a vent or "weep" hole. If the coolant is leaking from the hole, the water pump is defective. Hope this helped and best wishes.

check all hoses .from thermostat to radiator to water pump. check heater hoses.if all is good .make sure your water pump not leaking around the gasket area.if all is good.core plugs could be leaking.
