Problem with the NetGear WNA1100 WirelessN 150 USB Adapter Hi, I have just purchased a new WNA-1100...Ads by GoogleWireless Data IC Solution www.cmlmicro.com/wirelessQAM/PSK/FSK/GMSK/4FSK/FFSK/MSK/QPSK Free Datasheet Download + Info By rusperala on Oct 23, 2010 Hi, I have just purchased a new WNA-1100 wireless adapter. I have installed it with no problems, but when it asks me to insert the adaptor and press next, it just keeps saying 'detecting adaptor', for as long as I leave it. As soon as I remove the adapter from the computer, it tells me that the adapter is not found. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have tried un-installing, restarting and re-installing a few times, but it has not made a difference.

Got this fix off of newegg, and it works for XP

Install the updated software package from Netgear. Go into C:/ Program Files/Netgear/ and copy the Driver folder. Paste to your desktop or wherever.

Uninstall the Netgear software. Plug the wireless adapter back in, let Windows locate, and point it to the XP folder in the drivers folder. You're up and running. ^.^

As you said that you have reformatted the computer , try to reinstall your USB bus controller drivers because it seems that your USB bus controller is not detecting your USB adapter when connected.

Install wna 1100

Try the following:
- Uninstall the linksys adapter driver on your PC
- Uninstall the netgear driver, and go to kb.netgear.com and get the latest driver.
- Try to insert the adapter into a different USB port. (try them all)
- Update your XP if you are still using SP1.

You must use the driver on the CD that came with the wna1100.
Do not use the latest version on the website.

If you dont have any CD then here is a link for old version software:

Netgear wireless router: WNA3400 Netgear wireless USB adapter: WNA1100 Can get it to connect at 150 mbs but after a few minutes it always goes back to 65 mbs. Thanks.

It seems that your network is getting wireless interference and that is the reason why the adapter is dropping the connection to a lower speed. Please go ahead and change the wireless channel on the wireless router to resolve the issue.

Please revert for any further clarification.

Since your computer can't read cd and you have the installation cd what you can do is to copy the contents of the cd to a flash drive from another system then use the flash on your own pc, and install it from the flash. Try this.

Thanks
