Zomm lenses on compacts are so poorly made hardly any are repairable - thats why you see so many on ebay!! You may be able to get a new lens assy from the manufacturer but the price will be probably more than a newer camera!!

I dropped my Panasonic LumixDMC-ZS19 and now when I turn it on, it cycles, but then says Zoom error and won't pop out the lens. Help! I need it!

Hi, it looks like you have damaged the zoom mechanism that's why it will not zoom out . The unit will have to be repaired best to get a quote for repair first.

Fujifilm finepix j38 series reads zoom error and wont take a pic.

If you have some skills, you can open the camera and cline your zoom lens with toothbrush and compressed air. Try to separate zoom lens from the electric motor. usually is 2 or 3 screws. You will see a lot of sand inside the camera and lens. And next time when you will go to the beach, you will take more care about your camera.
Solution 2, and more easy is to buy another zoom lens from ebay.Or another camera same model with broken LCD or other technical problem than zoom lens.

My Fuji S1500 lens will not go in and out? It reads zoom error

Put a freshly charged battery in the camera. Lay it on its back on a firm smooth surface with a cloth between the camera and the surface. Hold the zoom button in and while holding it in, turn the power on the camera. If the lens moves tun the camera so the lens points down and continue to zoom in and out. That may free some grit or dirt wedging the lens in place. If that doesn't clear the trouble, look closely at the lens and the way it sits in the camera housing. Check to see if the gap around the lens is even. If it is not, gently apply pressure with your hand in the direction of the widest gap. Listen closely for a light snap. If you hear one, the adds are the guid pins snapped back in place and you may now try the zoom. If all this fails there is one more thing to try, but it may result in further damage. if you will probably trash the camera otherwise, try this. Remove the battery. Holding the camera firmly by the edges with one hand with the lens down, slap the camera into your cupped opposite hand several times. Replace the battery and try the zoom. If the zoom works this time, with the lens pointing down, zoom the lens in and out several times to try to let the grit or dirt jamming the lens drop out.

Fuji FinePix S700 Problem

Try to put it on super macro and see if this will reset the zoom function.
Also try to switch between the settings that allow the digital zoom, as compaired to those settings that only allow optical zoom.
If these do not work, you may have a lens that has been dropped, or is stuck, and may need to be serviced. I have the S700, and have never seen this error before> good luck.

Zoom malfunctioning

This sounds like there is debris lodged in the zoom gears. Been to the beach lately? The gears in the zoom mechanism are very small, and even a tiny spec of sand or other debris can jam them up. Alternatively the sensor inside the lens that feeds back the position of the lens to the control circuit may be failing - so the camera thinks the lens has retracted all the way and stops. If the stoppage of the zoom action is abrupt then it is probably debris, if it is a smooth stoppage like the camera is stopping on purpose it is probably a position sensor. Either way the camera will require repair. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
