Question about Philips 60PL9200D Projection Televisions

1 Answer

We were watching the TV and the sound suddenly goes out! No sound on any channel....thought it was the remote but when you use the side volume, it still doesn't have sound!

We have the picture and the sound indicator does show on the screen, just no sound!

  • mhughes57 Nov 09, 2010

I'm at work right now but I will try that when I get home this afternoon! Can I get back with you later in day after I've tried unplugging it?

  • mhughes57 Nov 10, 2010

Well, that didn't work...tried it several times! We do have sound through our surround sound speakers but not the actual TV. If we order the part, is it something my husband can put in or do I need a repair person? My zip code is 71203. Thanks for all of your assistance.

If you can track one down, I would certainly appreciate it! You have been most helpful!

So you have picture but no sound at all? Does it indicate on the TV that the sound should be increasing / decreasing? The on screen pop-up comes up but nothing changes, is that correct?

Let me know please, just reply to my answer here and I can help you.

Thanks
Tim

Ok unfortunately that means your sound board in your TV is failing or has failed. You can try just turning off the TV, unplugging it from the wall for at least 5 minutes, then replugging it in. Many times this can "kick-start" the board to get it working again.

Unfortunately though most likely it will not get it back and you will need to end up replacing this board in the TV. If you want me to find the part for you please let me know, or if you want me to see if I can find a local repair person that can do this for you, let me know that as well along with your zip code so I can find someone.

Thanks, let me know if you have any questions or concerns, just reply to my answer here and I will be right back with you.

Unfortunately your sound board has failed in the TV... if you want me to track one down for you let me know. Otherwise you will want to consult with a local professional.

Noone online appears to have this part, you will want to check with these people locally and see if they have a sound board, or can get one, for your model TV:

Britton's TV 208 Montgomery Avenue, West Monroe, LA (318) 387-119

have Aiwa TV MODEL No. TV-A209
The problem that I am suddenly facing is that I can't change channels or volume or use any other function. I can't even turn it off with remote control.

Its stuck randomly on a particular channel that I was watching at that point of time.

Along with that channel it now shows a message in flashing red color that reads :-
AGING
O6895H

Now when I press ''Display'' button on remote control volume goes off and this code is shown :-
S123 K234 Y
000 001 1

The numbers in the second line can be navigated by ''CH+'' button and changed between 0 and 1 by ''Vol+'' button.

I really don't know anything about this. So, please help me out of this problem.

The volume goes up by itself - SABA M5115GT

This is due to the signal reception. Some channels are broad casted with strong signal strength. Therefor you will find the audio is louder than other channels. Also, if there is voltage fluctuation/surges/spikes that is also responsible for suddenly increasing the volume. Best is to put a voltage stablizer

Vizio 37 inch channels and volume changing on its own

The circuit or integrated circuit being controlled has likely failed. You might try 'resetting' it by pulling the AC plug overnight. If that has no effect, a repair is unavoidable. This model seems to be developing a number of different problems.

Why does my RCA TV cycle through channels on its own?

this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t

It sounds like you are on one of the video inputs of the tv. Look for a button that says input, aux, video, etc. on the set or remote.

Sound not coming from left side surround sound speaker or my right side front speaker

it is highly likely that you're TV is outputting mono sound, hence the left channel only. check your physical connections to the TV and the balance / channel volume on the television as well.
