No sound from hofner icon bass

there is a switch in the jack socket that lets it know jack is in use. when the stop working it usually means you need to change the jack, you cannot bend the part back with out breaking it so just best to change it. you can get a replacement jack from ebay, or any electrical supply shop that does small components.

Rms b80 bass guitar amp has little volume in the low side jack , hi side jack is fine just not as much bass

The low in side jack has a lower vol. but should only be1/4 less than the high in jack on most amps, --try this,-- plug guitar in high in then take all the treble off and 1/2 mid. range bring up bass range and if you have equauzation bring down 26k 5k 10k about 2 notches or points. See if that give you better bass tone.

My boy has an esp ltd ax 150 bass which has broken E strings at the bridge since new almost 1 a week the bridge was modified by a Luthier which worked for a small amount of time then the problem came

You friends bass has a burr on the saddle. take a small fine file and go along the pacth of the string...Go over the saddle and slowly file lightly..This should get rid of your problem...take it to a service center if you arent comfortable doing this

What is wrong? my active bass whether i put a new battery in or not sounds passive no change whatsoever. quite a bit of the low end is severely missing. Schecter STARGAZER 5 bass.

That bass combines passive EMG pickups with an active preamp (which provides the bass and treble controls). Sounds like you are never getting the preamp to work, and if that is the case there could be numerous reasons...a dead battery...jack wiring that is broken (meaning the battery ground wire is not attached or is grounding out)...likely should see a tech, but that is a good sounding bass when working correctly.

Hi! I've got a Jack casady bass with no electrionics! Could you tell me wjere to get a wiring diagram for the pickup and the 3-way impedance switch. I also need to know where to get the 3-way swicth, so...

This page came up on a Google search and it has the diagram about midway down the page. You can also see a phone number for Gibson, and if it's still good maybe they can tell you if the switch is available.

The potmeters need to be replaced, but I can't find the right ones: 2.5 kOhm, logarithmic, long shaft

If the pots are just NOISY, get some CRC226 from Home Depot in the electrical dept and using the plastic spout, shoot some int the slot where the leads go in. Use ONLY this product as other cleaners can destroy the pots. It is in a small blue can about $2.70. If you used other products, still use this and try to restore the pots.

Any pots you were to get from OTHER than the original manufacture would likely have to have the shafts cut off.

I have a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass thats makes this really really loud buzzing earthy sound. It seems to happen spontaneously, in fits and starts, but particularly if the cable input on the bass is...

This sounds like either a bad guitar cable or a bad jack in the guitar. Possibly your friend is not as qualified to find these intermittent problems as needed? These jacks are really junky and often have riveting of the barrel come undone... especially if the retaining nut is overtightened. The LONG barrel like jacks are notorious for failing. You have all the information you need to solve this problem. First try a different guitar cable... (often they are broken or intermittent at the end where they flex). If that doesn't fix it, replace the jack in the guitar. Also verify that the conductive coating paint within the guitar is grounded. Sometimes the contact to it is destroyed when the volume control shafts or jacks become loose and they depend upon the shaft barrel to ground the paint.

I found a bass guitar in my attic. it doesnt have an output jack and was wondering how i can fix it. i belive that it is a Lakland Joe Osborn 4 Bass. its a nice bass and i want to play it

Pretty straightforward and cheap to do. You will need a replacement jack to fit the bass and some shieled audio cable and a soldering iron and some tools. Remove the rear cover plate screws and then the plate to expose the controls and wiring. If you can take a photo and email it to me I can show you what needs doing to get you up and running. email Karl ay

Fender Jazz Bass E string saddle vibrates down

Hi Mike,

If the sound is like a string vibrating against something, ensure that is not strings (usually G) vibrating against the bridge.

Ensure that the two screw on the saddle are well in place.

Ensure also that the vibration is not coming from a string vibrating against the frets, in that case you can fix the problem by adjusting the action and rectifying the bow of the neck.

In either case, if the sadde and neck bow are cause of vibration, try tweaking the saddles a little, and lowering the position of the saddle a bit downward. Try also to rectify the neck. turning the apposite screw.
