DISHWASHER NOT CLEANING TOP RACK DISHES

Hi

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher kudi01tj. It doesn't do a very good job of cleaning the dishe, especially the top row.

Once before while it was still in warranty it wouldn't clean and the store I purchased it from came and fixed it. They said it had a reputation for the hose getting clogged and not allowing the contents to drain properly. Could this happen again?

Loaded the machine with a rather "soilded" load... and now the top rack doesn't clean. I believe the pump is working... at least the machine drains.

If it is a hose clog.. How do I unclog the hose?

And how lame is it that I always seem to need to rinse the dishes before i put them in to be cleaned.

I have a similar issue. The dishwasher runs and the water is getting hot, but nothing on the top rack gets clean. I ran it empty and open & closed the door and noticed the top arm never changes positions. I took the entire plastic internal assembly apart and cleaned the upper arm, screens and chopper assembly and there were no obstructions. I'm thinking something go sucked into the pump and broke part of the impeller, so now I have to pull the pump.

Anyone know HOW to pull the pump?

I know I need to pull the washer out and probably flip it on it's side and start unscrewing panels,,, etc. I’m fairly mechanically inclined, but just would like a little direction

The washer drains fine so I don't think it's the drain pump. Any other ideas what it could be?

    Thanks,

    Will

I had the same problem (no water being delivered to the top rack) and found that the chopper assembly was completely blocked. I removed it, washed it, put the whole thing back together. It works like new now.

Note that it is not easy to get to the chopper assembly. I used the "pump and motor parts" diagram on http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%208193720.pdf. The inlet protector was especially difficult to get off, but I was able to pry it off to expose and remove the chopper assembly. I cleaned all the parts I removed really well before re-installing.

We have an older KitchenAid dishwasher (Model e) that cleans dishes on the lower rack just fine but not the ones on top. Anyone have any ideas why or fixes?

Be sure you are not blocking the spray arm for the top rack. If your dishwasher has a telescoping spray arm in the botton center that retracts when the dishwasher is off, be careful about covering it with the dishes

Kitchen aid dishwasher, 3 yrs old, dishes on top rack do not get clean

Hi,

On your model, upper rack cleaning issues are most often linked to debris in the inlet to the pump. I have put some instructions together on cleaning this. If you follow the link it will explain how to check and clean this.

My dishwasher is no longer cleaning properly. A

Clean out the area where food gets caught and consider using different dishwashing tablets - especially the Calgon ones which clean out the drains of teh machine whilst cleaning the dishes.

Alternitivly you should call in a plumber to clean the pipes (Or purchase the equiptment to do it yourself, there are often all-in-one cleaners that'll flush out the pipes)

I know this isnt the same model, they dont carry your manual as of yet. But it does have some suggestions to look at on page 17. I had the same problem and I looked really carefully and found my sprayer arm was blocked. I cleaned it out and havent had a problem with it again. I do check it regular now.

My whisper quiet dishwasher is not cleaning the top rack dishes

I'm having the same problem. Did some testing and found that the sprayer on the top rack is not even moving and hence not getting any water. Not sure what to do.
