Hello,
You need to check your ram, if you have a bad ram, there will be no video or no hdd lights.

Thanks,
Lolita

I have a Compaq Presario 5000, and it just doesn't boot. The problem is that the monitor is blank. I can see the HD, CD lights go on, but nothing happens after that. I tried three different video card,...

If you have no post then the motherboard is most likely shot or having a conflict. If your using AGP card and have another expansion card in the first expansion slot the Graphics card will not work because those two slots share IRQ's. Remove all expansion cards except the Video card and remove any floppy, hard drive or CDROM and all ram from the machine and see if you can at least get a post and access to the BIOS. If you can boot to post it is a matter of isolating what is causing your problem by connecting 1 item at a time until it stops working. Until you can get a POST the motherboard, for all intensive purposes, is dead.

Gateway 830GM power

Could be power supply, unplug every thing from the board, remove all drives, cards everything but the mem. turn it on, if you get some beeps, add your Hard drive. The power supply may not have the guts it take to run all the peripherals it used to, this test will tell you if its the board or power supply.

Replaced power supply on T2240 emachine now cant get onboard video" or any video, also tried PCI video card with no results. Need video to see if machine can boot

the fact that your not getting any video is that your computer is not booting or it can't boot right now.

might be best if you found someone to test and help you with it or if you took it to someone.

There is no video on my moniter

Unplug power supply and try re-seating your memory sticks and add-in cards including video. Make sure monitor is plugged in securely to motherboard video port to start with if it has one. Sometimes you need to start up from motherboard video port first and then install your add-on video card, power off and then plug monitor in to add-on card.

My PC does not start.

When you say "does not start", does that mean none of the fans spin, the hard drive does not power up, CD drive door won't open, no lights light up on the motherboard?

If any of these are happening, let me know. I would start by unplugging all the things you added except the CPU fan first and see if it now powers up.

If it is indeed powering up, but there is no display, perhaps the video card is not properly seated (assuming video is not integrated). Also, you did not mention if you had plugged in keyboard, mouse or any other peripherals.

Start with as little as possible and when you get power, add one item and check, then add another and check.

Let me know if you need more help.

Hi, I have a Directv HD HR22-100 receiver that I think might be dead. It won't power on, when I plug it in the lights in back flash for a second thats it. I've tried resetting unplugging/plugging. I don't...

unplug all the cables from the back except the your video output ( hdmi, component,) restart the receiver. if u still have the problem then it is dead. if it starts up there is a problem with the cabling or dish and your will need a service tech.

Serger won't start

Try unplugging power from outlet and removing from machine also. Let it go without power for a few minutes then try another outlet. Hopefully it has not had a power surge. It is best to keep unplugged when not in use..
