Re: game shark problems
Gameshark is a 3rd party disk and sometimes depend how the disk was made. The laser inside is calibrate to read the format specified from the manufacture (SONY) and quite few time the laser ned to be adjusted a little bit to make work but i do suggest to try another disk if still doing the same .The reading issue is a common problem for ps2.If your machine is a slim one i suggest to replace laser since are not expensive and can give more boost to your game

Alter the normal play of a video game to give the user an advantage.
That's cool and all, but think of it this way:
Take GoldenEye 007 for N64 for example. Game Shark makes it really fun to play; the only thing is that you'll start wondering in places where you shouldn't be (not intended to get to in the actual gameplay) and the game will start glitching until you're out out of that area. The reason this game sticks out to make this point is that after you accomplish a few missions on normal gameplay and do some tasks, you'll start to unlock certain cheats made for the game; pretty much getting rid of the need for GameShark (which you'd only use for the really hardcore codes). The biggest difference is that when you use gameshark the game doesn't recognize it as a cheat game and assumes your "walk through doors" to be normal.
GTA4 has cell phone cheats that you can enter to get a upper hand, the game knows you're cheating and blocks out all of the trophies as this could lead to a very unfair advantage. The thing is, these cheats were meant for the game.
Case and point: It will mess up your game. If you save your progress using these cheats it could effect your game and ultimately your system. Please don't use any cheats that weren't intended for the game and be careful if you do.
