Question about HP Officejet 5600 series

Open Question

My hp 5600 won't print in color. I set it to only print in grayscale when I ran out of color two months ago. I set it back to color once I purchased the brand new ink cartridge that is hp brand. I did an alignment print out and it print out in blue and black. I also did a test print which includes pressing the * and the # buttons, pressing 1,2,7 and then the right arrow, press o.k. then press the left arrow and o.k. to print vpp report. That print out o.k. But it won't print any documents, web pages, or photos in color? It even makes copies in color. What could be wrong?

SOURCE: Ink Cartridge Alignment

On alignment sheet, do you see a line of yellow blocks?
And on next line do you see alternate block and yellow blocks?

(Without these, alignment fails)

If not, change the colour cartridge, re-print the page and repeat alignment.

Good luck...

SOURCE: hp psc 750 won't print with new color ink cartridge

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Is there any way to get my printer to print only black copies without having to buy the new color print cartridge

Go to the printer settings - Preferences- color tab - and select Grayscale in the color selection.

Once this is done, try print a color text and see if it comes in a gray scale. This will work.

To give you a tip on this.... understand that this printer has a black ink cartridge and a tri-color cartridge. When we select grayscale, only black cartridge would be used.

Good Luck.

Printer will not print

If you go to control panel, printers and fax, right click on your printer, then select properties you will see a section for color or grayscale printing. Select grayscale for all your jobs to be printed in B&W.

Good Luck,

The HP 6300 Officejet printer at my office will print black just fine, but will not print a drop of color. Even the on the test page the color sections are either blank or pale grayscale.

This is one of three problems. The ink cartridge is overfilled, it needs cleaning or alignment, or it is dried out and you need to purchase a new cartridge. If it is dried out, you cannot refill it. The sponge inside is dry and cannot be fixed. Another problem could be in your printer settings. Did you check to make sure that your setting are not on grayscale (black cartridge only). To do this, when you go to print, click File - Print - then click Properties. There should be a tab in that area that will tell you if it is on black ink only. Try to make sure the cartridges are clean and/or replace them. This usually fixes the problem. Cheers.

Can't print in color on my Canon printer

If you go here you can download or view a manual for your printer, with detailed instructions on changing the print cartridge settings in windows or mac.
If you go here, you'll be taken to the home support page for your printer, where you can enter a search for "print in color", and detailed instructions will follow.
You go to control panel>printers>print preferences> and uncheck the grayscale printing and set the color to auto.
Issue: Image prints black and white instead of color....See below.
Solution: Uncheck Grayscale Printing checkbox (Windows)

Unchecking Grayscale Printing Follow the steps below to change the Grayscale Printing option:
  1. On the Windows desktop, click 'Start', point to 'Settings', then click 'Printers' (Windows XP: On the Start menu, click 'Printers and Faxes').

For Windows Vista: Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
  2. Windows 2000/XP/Vista: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Printing Preferences'. Windows 98/Me: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Properties'.

  3. On the Main tab, click on the 'Grayscale Printing' check-box to remove the check-mark.

  4. Click the 'OK' button to save the setting.

HP 640 Fax series not printing

If it is a color printer, try printing just grayscale or black& white.  It is is already set to print just b/w, try printing in color.  Basically you may be out of ink.  Run the printer utility to clean the heads and see if anything changes.  A new set of cartridges should fix the problem, I believe.
Hope this helps...
