This shows that your chipset is Intel 845 but you did not mention the manufecturer of PC i.e. HP, Compaq etc. Please clarify the manufecturer or is it barebone PC.

However this BIOS string matches with QDI P6I845 PlatiniX-2D PlatiniX-2D BIOS - 6A69VQ1A. If I am right then BIOS update is available at the following link.https://www.wimsbios.com/biosupdates/qdi... Try to update your BIOS. Be careful before upgrading your BIOS that if you upgrade your BIOS with wrong upgrade, your BIOS even motherboard can get damaged. Hence be careful before upgrading your BIOS that you are upgrading with correct BIOS.

Hi. If you have received this error message durinf installation, it means that bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. ACPI driver is part of the operating system. The ACPI driver's responsibilities include support for PnP and power management. You need to obtain the latest update of the BIOS firmware supplied by the manufacturer. You can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. This is the time where you see "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver". The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation.

All the best!

Hi. I am trying to search for firmware update of your motherboard over the internet but to no avail. Usually, computer manufacturers are the one who uploaded software update at their website. For example, my computer is Lenovo and when I go to lenovo's support and download site I can download the Bios update of my motherboard.

Aspire 1700 needs to be acpi compliant, to run windows 7 help needed

Advanced Configuration and Power Interface

(ACPI) specification provides an open standard for device configuration and power management by the operating system.

Windows 7 absolutely requires ACPI 2.0 for power management.
Your laptop only supports ACPI 1.0. Windows 7 will never load

I think Vista is the most advanced version you could install.
I really like XP as the speed is so much faster.

Keep Smiling :)

ACPI is the reporting system for the hardware. It tells the operating system about battery charges fan speeds and so on depending on the model.

I would look at the Asus support page for a bios update as well as updates for the ACPI system or software. You can download and just run the updates to install and that should fix this if they have a driver problem and a fix.

http://usa.asus.com/Eee/

Select your model to go to the model page then under downloads you should find the bios updates and the bios utility. Download and run and it will update and hopefully kill the error. I saw 4 updates and two looked like they might address this. Just get the latest one. It will tell you if it needs to be done. Don't run anything else when you do this. Start the update and don;t touch. It should take just a few minutes and may want to reboot after.

If you perform an upgrade on the BIOS to enable ACPI on a computer that is already running Windows XP , you must reinstall the operating system to enable ACPI support.
