Question about Mastercool 67680 Evaporative Cooler Air Conditioner

Motor cycles on and off. It is a roof top unit don't know how old. this is a rental house with an absent landlord. don't want to and cant spen much money on fixing but don't want to burn it up.

    it is irregular and there is no thermostat. this rental was really trashed and i have no idea how long, if ever, the cooler has been serviced. temperatures are in the 100 to 110 range with low humidity

Is this on and off cycle rapid and irregular? If so it may be loose control wiring or a bad thermostat.

If the Cycle is not rapid it may simply be trying to satisfy a heavy heat load.

    The first thing to do is to turn the unit off at the breaker and find the thermostat. Maybe the tenants broke it off the wall or something. If you can not find the thermostat than it is time to call in a contractor. It may have been broken off the wall, stolen or something.

The difference between the bills of the old unit and the bills that will be coming now will be unbelievable. A savings of 40-50% is not at all out of the question.

Now, if you are renting and are paying the bill to feed an old monster of a heating system, I suggest that you make a proposal to your landlord. Offer to pay a bit more rent in exchange for a new heating system. Not only will you decrease your gas bills enough to pay some extra rent and still come out ahead, but you will have the peace of mind that you have a safer heating system under the roof that you also live under.

Please check for gas line, gas valve, gas regulator to open and ignite.

well the land lord is responsible to repair or replace a unit(appliance) that is offered in the rental agreement ,,this is his problem assuming that you did not abuse your machine IE kids taking a ride in it, filling the washer to the point the lid dos not close and so on lol i`m certain you are innocent of this,,,,,,,Right ?
at any rate coordinate your efforts to repair your unit with your landlord, i`m certain that any good landlord will be reluctant but obliged to have this situation ratified landlord ,,,,,your fault is most likly with the lid switch it is a safety feature built into all washing mashines to prevent the spining action to ocer with the lid oppen this is to provide a prevention to personal phisical injeries

My roof top a/c unit is as old as nails. the fan blows but not the the A/C. i live in a rental apt. my landlord wont repair or fix it. what do you suggest i check for? thank you


hate to say it,but they dont have to fix it,remind him next time when you have to shell out the same amt rent for less creature comfort,till then go towalmart/shopko what have you and when you plug it in hope his electrical service is more up to par than his rooftop and can handle your new a/c.good luck!!!
