Question about Pioneer VSX-919AH-K A/V Receiver

1 Answer

I just received the LG PK950 and have a Pioneer VSX-919 receiver. I have my digital cable, PS3 and Xbox 360 hooked up to the Pioneer and then the Pioneer hooked up to the TV. Both the PS3 and Digital Cable Box work flawlessly but the Xbox 360 for some reason does not produce video, only audio. I had a Panasonic S1 before the LG and never had a problem. I did not change ANYTHING when it comes to how it is all hooked up. I just unplugged the single HDMI cord running from the receiver to the S1 and plugged it into the LG. The weird thing is, when I plug the Xbox 460 directly into the LG via HDMI it works fine. Someone please help, I'm about to lose my mind. And yes, I have tried switching around the HDMI cables and ports. Thanks.

You should be able to get a cable that will allow you to hook up the headphone output of your laptop to an rca input on your receiver.

Hook your X Box into the Receiver HDMI input with your HDMI cable and another HDMI cable from the HDMI out on the receiver to the HDMI input on your TV.

I am trying to hook my playstation 3 up to the pioneer vsx 510 using a digital optic cable. I have everything set on the playstation but still cannot get any sound. I am not that familiar with the reciever...

Be sure youve selected the optical output option on your ps3 (in sound options on your XMB) ... now on the back on the amp under the optical input it says CD. Select CD input using the toggle know or your remote and then on the front of the amp press the button labeled"signal select"(in between DSP select

Can I use my Pioneer VSX-D412 receiver to hook up my surround system to my new Samsung HDTV?

Yes, both receiver and tv have optical/digital connectors, or alternatively, the S-video connector. The Pioneer will decode the compressed 5.1 signal coming from the tv unit.

Pioneer vsx-519 no sound from center and surround

Make sure that the sound field/programme you have selected is dolby digital not stereo.(On the amp)
You also need to check on the display that is says DIGITAL not ANOLOUGE, as only a digital input, Optical fibre cable, HDMI, COAX will be a digital signal.
If you are using red and white rca connectors, it is not going to work, as this is an Anolouge signal.

Pioneer VSX-D608 Optical connection

The manual states that the default association of each digital input in as follows:
  • Optical 1: CD
  • Optical 2: MD
  • Optical 3: TV
  • Coax: DVD
Use the "Signal select" button to set the receiver to use a digital input, and the Dolby/DTS button (above "Signal select") to enable decoding.

As samz11 stated above, a remote is required to alter the digital input mapping.

Component to HDMI

why dont u connect the xbox directly to the tv via HDMI cable? the output will be fantastic. The component cables just cannot give a better resolution than HDMI.
As for connections,i am not in favour of component and HDMI together.

Pioneer receiver VSX-D411

Yes techtod you are right you do have to tell the receiver what you want it to do usually on the front panel you can access set up menu and go into input set up This is an example Say you plugged the dvd into optical one or coax 1 you must go to the input that says dvd click down till you highlight dig input and then select optical 1 or coax 1 there can be as many as 8 digital inputs so just check wich one you plugged it into and then tell the amp then you should be back to watching your digital movies

No sound

you have the co-axial and optical inputs both set to a specific input? ie. For my xbox 360, I use optical. so I set my optical to DVD, and then I have to set the receiver to DVD to get the sound.

Connections

Follow these; 1-Get an Xbox 360 HD cable (see the picture1 below) 2-Connect the red and white plugs to one of your amplifier's empty inputs. 3-Connect the VGA plug to the LCD directly By following these instructions you'll be able to get surround sound from your amplifier as long as you keep it turned on. 2nd solution could be that; (if you have some other equipments connected to the amplifier such as dvd, cd, etc.) 1-Get the above-mentioned HD Cable and get a VGA to S-Video adapter (a small piece of equipment) 2-Do the same thing as mentioned in the 2nd above 3-This time, you're gonna select a VIDEO INPUT (video1, video2,etc.) on your amplifier's input selector. Affix the VGA plug of your HD cable to the S-Video adapter, and connect it to an empty S-Video input slot at the back side of the amp. 4-Get a simple RCA cable or a digital coax cable (up to you) to make a connection between the "monitor out" slot of the amp. and the "video in" slot of the LCD. It's important that which video input you've selected in your amp. to make this connection. For instance, if you choose "VIDEO 1", you will have to connect all plugs (Audio and Video) via VIDEO 1 slots. Good luck
