Question about Yamaha Rx-v465/rxv465 Home Theater Receiver

1 Answer

Had amp instaled with Yamaha YST SW 150 sub B&W 684 front B&W HTM61 centre yamaha NSA635 rear. At volume +2 the amp shuts down and was told it was the rear speakers cliping. I have tried using B&W 686 and am at presant using B&W DM 308 at the rear with the same resualt. I dont think it can be a speaker problem. The front amp lights pulse ( dim and bright just before shut down). if the front speakers only with centre and sub are used I can go to MAX +16 volume with no problem. The speaker wirers have been rechecked and there is plenty of venterlation around the amp but it will get hot within less than a few secounds. The installer has been back and this time I am told it is the power supply that is the problem,As the speakers can more than handle 105w. The amp has been returned as it is still under guarantee and I am STILL waiting to find out what they say? Please help me as I am sure they will say that it is not the amp that is the problem or find another reason. One of them is that I will need a more powerful amp but I dont need more than 105w or have the open area for 2 more speakers for a 7.1 amp without the wife having a fit. Thank you. Peter. .

What happens if you try only the rear speakers without front?
The amp is 105 W per channel, but as most AV amps, it cannot handle 5x 105W at the same time.
The only thing I can think of is impedance issue. Are the front/center/rear speaker of the same impedance? You can set the speaker impedance in the advanced menu (page 45 in english manual), but all speakers must have the same impedance (8ohm or 6ohm).

most yamahas have a setting to lower main speaker volume 10 db, accessed by the remote, or front panel controls in the settings.this is a very small sub, only a 6.5 inch driver and 100w.
sub placement in regard to the seating position is very important in order to get good bass response.

How do I connect the YST-SW45 sub to a different system

It's a standard non-proprietary standalone self-powered sub that accepts any input one could want. Your unnamed electronics will be the determining factor. Manuals spell it all out.

I have a yamaha yst sw320 subwoofer connected to a yamaha dsp-a595a amp. I recently disconnected my equipment and when i reconnected it im getting a feedback hum/noise through the sub. I've tried...

Subs don't go to a variety of connections on the amp. Let's stop guessing and stick with the prescribed one.

Register and download the manuals for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Yamaha-YST-SW320-Subwoofers-manual/id/320bh340/t/2/

See page E1 regarding placement and safety.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Yamaha-DSP-A595-Amps-manual/id/319ag821/t/2/

Page 44 - read about "humming".

If you have hum on the sub, is it there with and/or without the input cable attached?

Disconnect the input(s) and see if it hums in the absence of an audio source. A bad audio cable shield or unwisely-routed audio cables will allow entrance of unwanted signals from external power sources, magnetic fields, even dimmer-controlled track lights. Sometimes, simply reversing the orientation of the ac power plug can eliminate humming.

Need a hookup diagram for yamaha rx-v461 plus yamaha yst-sw216 please

Hi,
Here you can find the manual for your subwoofer. Looking at its back side, it has 2 RCA plug input for stereo. Receiver has just mono sub output, but as low frequencies are not easily locatable, mono is perfectly OK.
Just connect receiver SUB-OUTPUT with RCA cable to your subwoofer's RCA LEFT input. Then adjust volume to match rest of your speakers.

Wharfdale moviestar 70 speekers and sub

i have the same moviestars 70+ plus a yamaha rx-v750 put the crossover on the sub to maximum (left knob) volume (right knob) about 2/3 clockwise. change the crossover on the yamaha to anywhere from 80-120 ( the 120 will put more bass to the sub) if your yamaha has sub level/volume control set it higher, also if it has LFE/sub out set it to sub only.
Good luck!

Hi,
Similar problem, maybe inherent to this sub, found wiring diagram ( can't remember where right now) R46 is 150 ohm - 1/4 watt. As informed by many sources - burnt resisitor just result of other fault - on replacement resisitor just smoked it up again. Have tech attempting to separate power supply from amp to locate problem. WIll post result if faulty component is located. Not much of a sub anyway - just can't bear to throw it away for cost of minor component.

Yamaha YST-MSW10 subwoofer quits after about 10 minutes

This problem can be solved by either of the following:
1/ Modify the PCBA to prevent the auto shut off feature from working. This is done by adding a 20k ohm resistor across pins 1 & 2 on the timer IC6. This resistor will prevent the timer from turning off the amp. To do this, unplug the amp. Remove the 8 screws on the perimeter of the rear of the amp. Carefully remove the rear plate. Disconnect the speaker wires at the speaker and the front panel connection on the main board. Locate IC6 on the bottom of the main board. Solder a 20k ohm resistor (1/4W) across pins 1 & 2. Pin 1 and Pin 8 are noted on the board. Be sure to insulate the leads of the resistor to prevent contact with the board. See picture. Re-assemble in reverse order.
2/ Some 5.1 channel amps allow independent control of the volume for the subwoofer in their setup. Check your amp to see if you can raise the signal level going to the subwoofer to prevent the amp from shutting off. You can then dial back the volume of the subwoofer using the volume control on the front._436.jpg
