Re: my posted problem.
No that should be plenty. Only other thing I can think of is to make sure that you have the most current drivers for both you sound and video cards. Visit the manufacturer's websites to download the latest drivers.

Well If its windows xp 32bit OS then it only reads 2.5. I run xp x32 bit with 4 gb ram and i only list 2.7gb ram. Its nothing to worry about. Your system is actually using all of you ram even though windows isn't posting all of it.
Compaq are a bit fussy with RAM and usually don't like mixed RAM - brand, speed, & sometimes size.
You model may not support more than 2GB, check the specs..
Try inserting a single 2Gb RAM to see if it works.
If it dosen't work and the laptop won't support more than 2Gb, you may need to install two 1Gb RAM modules.
Hi safran0785, The Asus motherboard, P4S533-MX can run two different types of memory. (Just not at the same time & in different slots). You can use 2, 184-pin memory, PC2700/PC2100 MHz or PC1600 up to 2GB. (1GB DIMMs) inserted in the two memory slots closest to the CPU. Or you can run SDR memory, 168-pin PC133 or PC100MHz DIMMs up to 1GB of memory in the last two slots farthest from the CPU. You can not run both types of memory at the same time. The 184-pin DDR PC2700MHz memory is much faster then SDR memory. The maximum amount of system memory supported is 2GB.
Need more information/questions, just post here. Good luck safran0785! Mike
The NX6310 laptop supports up to 4 Gb of RAM either 533 or 667 MHz DDR SDRAM.
When memory upgrades don't work, the problem could be incapable memory between RAM modules.
Try to use RAM from the same manufacturer, especially the manufacturer of the working RAM.
Use RAM that have the same speed specification.
You got two memory ports. One on the bottom of the unit. The second one is on top of your Notebook. To reach it you have to remove the keyboard. There are three small points on the top of the keyboard to unlock it. Under the keyboard you will find a metal protector with one screw which protects the second ram... By the way: The Bios only recognizes up to 2 of ram. System ProfileASUS G2P
