Question about Pentax Cameras

1 Answer

Hello I dropped my Camera Pentax K10 D. It doesnt want to trigger when I push the buttons. The AF works but instead of taking a pictures, it doesnt launch and the mirror refuses to go up,instead make a locked sound. I opend it up from the bottom and through the left holes I could reach a small pin , whn I touch or move it a bit with a screw it does work but just for a while ( after about 10 shots) it goes down again. Please advise Thanks.

Is it OK to use a Pentax AF500FTZ flash on-camera with a Nikon D70s? Is the trigger voltage going to be a problem? It looks like one can use a Nikon flash on a Pentax DSLR without problems.

The brands use the flash contacts to communicate to the camera. They do not make their flashes compatible with other brands. Don't mix brands. Even if trigger voltageis not an issue, the TTL and AF is not going to function.

My camera doesn't shoot anymore.

photo's on the beach, camera obstructed? Could it be you got sand in your camera? Didyou change your lens while on (or near to) the beach? Sand in your shutter can obstruct the shutter in that case the camera has to be cleanded i don't know what the costs are for a cleaning of the body.

When I try to take a picture with my Pentax W60, it will focus but not take the picture no matter how long I hold the button

I have the same issue, no message appears - every now and again after I push & hold the shutter button (sometimes 4-5 times, 5-10 seonds) it will finally take the picture. But, again - once it focuses it doesn't take the picture when the shutter ****on is fully engaged.

Pentax ES2; do bayonet lens fit digital Pentax SLR?

Any Pentax K-mount lens will fit any Pentax DSLR. The DSLR will fire the shutter.  There is a menu setting (RTFM) which allows the use of older lenses, but you will lose some of the automation (again RTFM). Remember to allow that the effective focal length when using a "film" lens on a DSLR body goes up by 50%.
A standard 50mm lens becomes a 75mm equivalent, but stays a large aperture.

What is the trigger voltage for Pentax AF 500FTZ

When using a digital camera with a flash unit of unknown trigger voltage, you are risking the life of your camera. Excessive trigger voltages can disable the cameras internal circuitry to the point where it is totally beyond repair.

I do not have, in my files. the trigger voltage for the specified flash unit. I only have the specs for larger portables and studio flash gear.

A simple test , however, will reveal the exact trigger voltage. If you have a multi-meter or a DV voltmeter with a 250 VDC range (just to be in the safe side) you can preform this test at home or an electronics service technician can do it for you in a few minutes.

The test lead are placed across the synch contacts on the foot of the unit or plugged into the sunch socket if the flash unit has one. If the reading is more that 4 or 5 volts you can still safely use the flash with the aid of a protector device which goes in between the flash and the camera. Theses are available at better camera shops and dealers.

Dropped the camera and now...

Sounds like the chassis under the shutter button has somehow distanced itself from the shutter release button, maybe bent away from the button? Its s stretch but that maybe the problem. The button is designed to have 2 contacts in it, the autofocus switch and the shutter release depending on how much you press it, like most cameras

Pentax AX-7 does not take picture

If you just put in standard AA batteries, they do not have enough power to drive the camera. Use high power ones, or better still 2300 mAh or 2500 mAh rechargeable batteries
