Try turning the bottom spool upside down. looking at the shuttle in your palm the thread needs to be on the left hand side winding / facing anti clockwise to catch in the hook see link below for

Top thread not picking up bottom thread

Try installing a brand new needle. Bent or damaged needles sometimes do not contact the bobbin thread to pick it up.

Usually threading is not an issue, but you may want to rethread the machine (be sure to always RAISE the presser foot during threading).

If it still doesn't pick up the bobbin thread, most likely the needle/hook is out of time. Take it for service.

Bobbin thread is not catching

Try installing a brand new needle verifying with the owner's manual that is installed correctly. Also check that it is the correct type needle for your machine.

Tension generally will not cause the problem of the upper thread not picking up the bobbin thread.

If it is still a problem, the machine could be out of time--the needle and hook are not meeting at the proper time. Take it for service.

My machine will not sew at all. The top thread is not engaging and the bottom is not picking up. I can't fill the bobbin. It goes round but will not even wind thread at all. Why?

You need to check few things:
1. If the needle not bend, the best just to put new needle.
2. Now the needle must bu installed correctly it's very important that it' on the right height and in proper direction so the bottom hook gets into the thread loop after needle moves 1/32" up.
3. If this doesn't help check the bottom hook, it must be smoth and have sharp point if not it might be demeged
and needs to be replaced.
All this must be in the instruction book, just sometimes in very
ocward way.

My top thread isn't picking up the bottom thread, and my needle is inserted right and not bent, i dont know what else it could be?

if you are sure needle is right then the timing could be off, sequence between needle going down and hook rotating around tocatch the needle thread. usually a tech repair.

SIs there a certain measurement for the needle to the hook, when timing the Singer drop in bobbin electonic sewing machines? Or is it just timed for the furthest right that the needle will swing, when in...

I'm assuming you're referring to the height of the needle at its highest point, and YES, there is a specification for it. It is possible for the needle height to go "off," and when it does, it won't pick up the thread. That is one of the two causes for the thread not being picked up -- the other is the hook timing.
The easiest way to address this is to purchase the service manual for your machine -- it will tell you how high the needle is supposed to be and how to adjust it. Sewing Parts Online sells service manuals, and if they don't have it they can order it for you -- generally takes two weeks.
Zigzag stitching has nothing to do with it, by the way--leave that part alone.

Needle not picking up bottom thread. Whilst sewing thick fabric my needle broke.i replaced the needle but it was not picking up the stitches evenly. I put it away got it out today cleaned the bobbin race...

Remove the needle plate and the bobbin case.

Ensure that the needle is inserted all the way up into the needle clamp.

Set the machine for straight stitch, center needle position.

Slowly turn the handwheel in the normal sewing direction and observe the following hook timing setting:

When the needle reaches it's lowest point and travels up 3.5mm, the point of the hook should be directly behind the needle, or at least within 1 or 2mm.

Another view is as the hook passes the needle, it should pass the needle slightly above the eye of the needle.

If the timing looks good, use some alcohol on a bit of cloth to clean the hook, careful around the tip of the hook as it is very sharp.

If the hook timing is off, you will need to take it to a knowledgeable service person as there are several possible solutions and several other related adjustments which will need to be made.

Top thread not looping the bobbin thread

In your case, I believe that the needle height is out of adjustment, and it's an easy fix. Insert a #14 needle, and make sure that it is ALL the way up in the clamp. You can determine that by looking at the shaft right above the clamp; the needle end should be resting against what looks like a grey bar.

Next, take 10 pennies and stack them on the needle plate. Your machine's needle should JUST be resting under the needle; it should be a tight fit. If it's off just a "smudge," leave it alone. If it isn't, take the cover off the needle area, and locate two Allen screws on the needle shaft. The one that adjusts needle height is the bottom one, and you should only loosen by about 1/2 turn -- not take it off. Adjust to the 10 penny standard, then make sure that the eye is exactly to the font, then tighten.
