NV-GS230 How can I save tape to APPLE Mac OS Tiger? (by 2 users)

I was told by several reputable camera shops that the Panasonic camcorder would be compatible with apple Macs. No response with USB cable but if I buy a Firewire cable will that work? THanks Roger
