IXUS 60 driver needed as my comuter is not sensing it

  • columbine77 Feb 02, 2009

I have plugged my camera into the USB port, which is working, but the computer does not recognise it. The software that came with the Canon Ixus 60 has been installed onto my computer, but it still does not work.

I don't think my computer has multimedia card reader and it seems as though I have the appropriate drivers installed. What else can I do?

Greetings silverbowls,

You may try using a multimedia card reader if your computer is not recognizing the unit via usb.

Try using a card reader to download the missing 1000 pics. In the future, don't leave so many pics on the card...they aren't made for long storage. 0b2a25a.jpg

Will my canon ixus 60 take a 16gb memory card

Yes. The IXUS 60 was designed to work with SD cards. Cards larger than 2GB are actually SDHC (the HC stands for High Capacity) and will not work in this camera.

You can connect camera's memory card to computer, then download this picture recovery program which is outstanding among all picture recovery software.

Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Format of sd card on canon ixus 60 lost pictures

Try PC Inspector "Smart Recovery" from the following listing. Select "Intensive" mode from the File/Settings menu. The program may need to run all night in this mode. If this doesn't recover the photos, am afraid then that they're permanently gone.

Computer does not detect Canon Ixus 60

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
