Question about GE AJCH10ACB Built-In Room Air Cool Unit

2 Answers

I have 2 heil heat punps (manufactured 1989), a 3T for the lower level and a 2.5T for the upper level. The 3T unit functions normal. The upper unit functions normal if each spring, when switching from heat to cooling, the technician adds 4 pounds of freon to cool properly. In the fall the tech must draw out 4 pounds of freon for this unit to heat properly. The outside and attic units are a matched set and the expansion value in the attic unit has been replaced. There's no leaks and several techs have tried but failed to resolve the problem. Any suggestions.

This is a Heil 9000 Heat Pump System Model #CH9524VKC1, Style #24DHA-000095ZR not as subject line states.

The Evaporator Coil was suspected bad and replaced by a tech in 9/05. Not sure why the EC was suspect.

Hi,

To properly trouble shoot this there is much more information needed....

The exact model numbers of the indoor and outdoor units...
The line set sizes and the lentgh of the line set....
The height difference between the two...
Are the lineset field fabricated or were they a precharged line set....
if a precharged... then is there extra piping coiled somewhere and in what position is it in???
What is the system air flow??? is it enough for the size of the system?

As you can see there are many things that COULD affect the performance of the system......

My best guess is that there is a kink or other restriction like a partial plug, in the line set somewhere and that is affecting the charge...but finding that could be very difficult...

4 pounds is alot of refrigerant and really should be close to the toal charge of that system....

Without getting my hands on it and actually observing the gauge readings... it is very hard to give hard advice as to what your exact problem may be...

Hopefully this may trigger something for you and you can get an ides as to what may be the problem...

That's the first time that I have heard of someone having to add and remove freon to make a heat pump work correctly.

Why was the expansion valve replaced?

Why can't I lower my honeywell 8500 below 67 on cool?

With a two story house you have to be aware that cold air flows downwards so any cold air coming from an ac unit will flow downstairs( normally down the stairway) so unless you can close off the down stairs then the up stairs unit will be cooling downstairs as well. Ac units have a thermostat located in the air intake and it cools until the cold air has risen to that point. In effect the space above the ac unit will be hotter than the floor. Knowing how they work ,you can see that the upstairs unit will never reach the set temperature because the cold air is continually heating from the house and will never get to the top thermostat.
So your solutions are
1-- fit controls that restrict the cold air from leaving the upper floor (Doors)
2--don't run the upper ac unit unless you are living up there (waste of money
)3 place an ac in each upper room and keep the room door closed

Haier CPN12XH9 Portlable Air Conditioner/Heater - The upper water plug (which I can't find a picture of on any manual) accumulates water while the lower tank (where water should be) is dry. Unit is only...

Not up on the unit, but water condenses on the evaporator of an a/c unit dropping onto a tray, as self evaporating, would assume that the drain from that tray is fed to the top of the compresor, which will have a tray around the top, heat from the compressor will evaporate the water, same as with a fridge. In dehumidifier mode, water would need to be collected, rather than evaporated back into the atmosphere, defeats the object other wise. so is lower tank around compressor? that would be for a/c mode upper tank for dehumidifier

I have a JVC KD-R80-BT it is one week old and when it s cold outside the clock stop working

I had the same issue. I found that this is normal system function for one of the three clock displays. This will only affect the large clock display. When the unit is too hot or too cold, a symbol LT will appear on the screen in the upper right corner. When LT disappears, the unit temperature is at a satisfactory level and the clock will function normally. In the manual, it says that displays is frozen until the unit heats up or cools down because scrolling would be fuzzy.

How long is the compressor in my heil max pro 10 waranty good for

Not sure which model number the Heil Max Pro 10 warranty uses. Heil will usally place the model number on the side of the outside unit or inside the cabinet for thee Inside unit. Click here for a direct link to=> Heil HVAC
Use care when reading any warranty because the wording is mostly written so you do not understand.
To help you decide which Heil product and warranty protection is best for you, select from the following at-a-glance comparisons.

I have an older sears and roebuck gas pack A/C unit that the electric co. put a energy cycler on. Since then the heat doesn't work and I need a wiring diagram to check the control wiring and get the heat...

This could be hard to find as Sears used other brands to put their name on. It could be a Heil unit. If the wiring diagram is not glued to the inside of the removable panel you could try taking the serial number to Sears and find out who made the unit and then download it drom the manufacturer

Central heat not blowing warm air

Do you know if your unit is a heat pump or not? Sounds like it may be an electrical problem and yes you would need to call a service tech.

Bake- Normal convection- both upper and lower heating elements.

Conv. Bake- Semi-forced convection- both upper and lower elements, heat is then distributed throughout the oven via the fan.
