I Bought a Vaio computer with Windows 7 and installed. I would like to install Windows XP, how can I do it?

Go to BIOS Setup, and in Boot Options change the first boot device to CDROM.
Windows doesn't like to have the same version written over it, or a lesser version written over it..
Forcing the computer to boot from the optical drive, (CD/DVD drive), corrects this.

What is the model number?

I would buy XP Pro, (ebay or a software house) and place the new system disk in the DVD drive. When the menu displays that it cannot install an older system on a newer system, click OK and the option to format your drive will apear. (If you don't get that choice, load win 7 again and format a CD with the system on it plus the format command, (click start, search "format")). Format the drive and follow the instructions on the XP disk.
Download all of the drivers that you need, from the Sony web site and when done, XP on a Vaio.

I hope that you stored the download on something else. If you wipe that drive it will erase the download. Anyway you need to get a boot disk to load first and then try the install. Hirons boot disk. Look here: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ dont click on the advertising.

Upgrade drivers to windows 7
If the game didn't work for Windows 7, you can use a virtual computer and install in it Windows XP, and then enjoy the game.

To create virtual computer, you can use softwares like VMWare Workstation. Then you need to use a Windows XP CD or image (download it) to install it to the virtual computer. Now go enjoy the game.

Can i uninstall windows 7 from vaio e series?
you can't actually uninstall windows 7, but you can install windows xp over it, simply choose the disk partition with win 7 on it during the set up process. the only problem is you will lose everything on that partition unless you can hook the disk up to a different computer and pull the information off

It is required to install the hard disk SATA drivers in the computer first. Download and extract the SATA drivers in a floppy drive, hard drive or CD on a different computer. Then, retsrt the computer by having the Windows XP disc inserted and beging the setup. During the setup process press the F6 key and enter>enter and then install the SATA drivers. Then, continue with the further setup process.

Select Windows XP Operating System and install the SATA drivers. Once, the SATA drivers are successfully installed you can continue with the further setup process with out errors.

Please backup the data by logging in to Safe Mode, please restart and start pressing F8 key to select Safe Mode then re-install the Windows 7 Operating System using the Recovery Disc or recovery Partition of the Hard Drive. The Recovery Partition can be accessed by restarting the computer and try pressing F10 Key. The Windows XP Operating System is displaying an error because it does not have SATA Driver to detect the Hard Drive. As Windows 7 has it, you can re-install it from recovery partition.

The issue appears if the Event services are not installed or working as expected in the computer. To resolve the issue, download and install the Sony Shared Library, Sony notebook Utilities and the VAIO Event Services Update.

The VAIO Media Gallery is an application to playback Audio, Video and Image file. Uninstalling this application will not affect any other applications installed in the Computer. To uninstall the same you can use Add/Remove Programs in XP or Programs and Features in Windows Vista/Windows 7. Go ahead and uninstall the Application to enjoy the performance of the Computer.

I think the technician installed a bootleg copy of XP on my VAIO when he replaced the hard drive. What are my options?
First, what version of windows did you have before? if you had Windows XP do you still have the Certificate of Authenticity (known herein as a C.O.A.).

Some computer manufacturers put the COA on the bottom of the laptop.

Some enclose them with the manual and paper work pertaining to Windows when you bought your computer.

If so just, do a repair installation and use your COA.

I am suspect of any Tech who uses a hacked Windows OS.

If you cannot find the COA that came with your computer, then your options are as follows:

Buy a new copy of Windows XP cost @ $100 - $150
of Vista or Windows 7.

use Ubuntu Linux desktop cost - Free
easy to use and little to no worries about hackers, viruses and having to install drivers.

Have vaio VGN-S460, window 7. Can't get internet
Windows 7 is still a beta and Sony probably doesn't make drivers yet for the network adapter on that computer. You might be able to install the windows vista or xp drivers and that may work. You might have to manually install these drivers, however.
