Question about iLO (2 GB) MP3 Player

1 Answer

RCA opal 4GB

It keeps freezing up...says it's initializng & thats all it does, just sits there. It won't turn off & screen uis always black & you can't navigate anything! I have only had it about 20 days & was able to download about 10 songs & now it won't do anything. Took it back to the store, but they have a 15 day return policy & won't take it back, RCA service says just to return it & they will repair or send me a new one. There was also no manual with it so I really don't know what to do next....a friend suggested re-formating?? I now am out over $70 & don't know if I should just send it back & wait forever for a new one? Help, can you talk me thru something to try or give me some advise on how to make it work? Thanks....Susan

I would try resetting your player first by pressing the RESET
button on the back of the player with a nonmetal
pointed object (e.g. toothpick) for 3-5 seconds. The player will turn off from the reset, and you can press the power button to turn it back on.

The manual is available at:http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=manual - just select your exact model number.

You may also need what is known as a "firmware upgrade" for your Mp3 player, most likely. You can get it by going to support.rcaaudiovideo.com and entering in your model #. There is a "frequently asked questions" section that will explain firmware upgrades in detail.

The manual is available at:http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=manual - just select your exact model number.

Wow, I didn't realize so many people were having the same problem I was having. First try re-installing the firmware for it. Since your computer won't recognize it you will need to download the software, then you will have 2 boxes pop up. One is the install instructions and the other is the actual program install. You will have to hold down the play button on your player while you plug it into the computer. DO NOT RELEASE THE BUTTON UNTIL THE PROGRAM SAYS "INITIALIZING".

It should work fine once you do this. I spent 3 hours going through RCA's website before I came across this step.

I can`t find the reset button on my rca opal m4001 mp3 player

Some models have reset switches some do not.
Look on the back of your mp3 there should be a tiny hole there.
That is the reset switch for most opal. Other way to reset is hold power button down for 15 seconds.

If you cant find it you will have to go to the RCA website and download the latest firmware.
