Question about Brother Sewing Machines

1 Answer

Brother 2001 sewing and embroidery machine.

I have a brother 2001 sewing and embroidery machine, that locked up after the warning the safety device was activated. Shutting the machine off did not deactivate the machine it is still frozen. I did clear the thread off that tangled at the loop on top. The shaft on top is movable but stiff. The bobbin area is also stiff. Is there some way to cancel the safety device?
The machine was sewing beautifully til the thread wrapped on the joint just below the upperloop

The fact that your machine is turning hard says you still have some thread inside the machine that is binding up and activating the safety device. It must turn easily before it will work properly again.
Sometimes the machine must be disassembled to remove these threads.

Re brother 770 embroidery machine: Needle shudders/shivers and the safety device light comes on. There is no nesting thread, the needle has been changed, with the flat surface facing back.

Check for proper threading of the machine, Making sure the groove of the needle is facing you as you use the machine. Even the way the bobbin is inserted and spinning in the correct direction, can be the issue.

Machine locked up with needle down in the machine

If you can, try to remove the needleplate and the bobbin case from the machine. Once the bobbin case is removed, the needle should be free.

I need a manual for my older sewing/embroidery machine, Baby Lock Esante ESL.

Yes, you are correct. Baby Lock brands Brother machines under their name with a special agreement between the two companies. Therefore the Brother manual would be helpful.

When you say jams up from the under could you please tell me what exactly is jamming up. Is it the bobbin thread jamming? I've had the "safety lock" warning but I need to know exactly what you were doing. OK

Brother 2003D jammed

i am not familiar with the brother safety device myself. however things i would check might be to first check the manual for the machine. if not available try to turn the machine off if it is electronic in hope that it would reset itself. i would also totally unthread the machine and change the needle. embroidery machines need to have needles changed more often due to their high speeds. What type of fabric were you sewing on? Some of the newer machines are just not made to sew on very heavy fabrics and this might be causing something in side to spring. Try to stitch on a lighter fabric with a stabilizer under it
