Try checking what addons are running in IE, it could be a Software conflict , aslo update flash/java/shockwave
also, try loading the page through a proxy
you can use the firstbar but it disables client side scripting
Glype works pretty well and CGI is java re-rewrighting

Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.
Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)
May i also recommend Mozilla Firefox. This much easier and faster than any version of Internet Explorer. Get it here >>>>>

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem
ok, is it only the Home page not working, if you manually type in a website you do get there page.
I am thinking the Home page link is a old link and now dead. manually type in the address for the home page and see if that works

SOURCE: Remove IE 8 & Replace w/ IE 7
I'm not sure you can find IE7 for Windows 7. However to disable IE8, you can go to the Control Panel, in the Programs window, select Turn Windows Features On and Off. Uncheck IE8 (the list seems to be in alphabetical order) then click OK. Please note this may change your ability to access Windows Updates.
I searched Microsoft.com's download center and only found IE7 for XP and Windows Server 2003 on a quick look.
I hope this helps.
