Remove the memory card from the camera and put it in a card reader to read the contents on the PC. It's the best way to read the pictures.
If the pictures are in the internal memory of the camera, copy them first to the memory card. There should be an option in the menu that does this.

I've lost my original software disk that came with PowerShot SX100 IS. ZoomBrowser 6.5.1 that is downloadable from Canon support site asks for the original CD. Could you please suggest where I can...

You don't need the Canon software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Just got powershotsx10is did't have software(cd-rom)for my computer.can i get a download off internet.

you don't really need a software to use it, both Windows and Mac will recognize the camera and will allow you to download the images and videos.

Canon's softwares are far from being user friendly and it is a waste of space of your hard drive

Switched to MAC - have EOS40D and SX100 - will not download SX100

Yes, you need to install the SX100 driver software as well. I wouldn't overwrite older versions of the Canon software, though, so do a selective install if you can.

How do you use PTP on the Canon Powershot SX100 IS?

Hi!

By default PTP is already enabled on the camera. If your concern is to transfer or download pictures from the camera to your Macbook , please take a look at this:

I hope that helps.

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS Digital Zoom

Hey NachesLady,
If the option to turn your digital zoom on or off is grayed out then the mode you have the camera set to does not allow changes to that option in that mode. I would try changing to another mode and see if the option is still grayed out. That being said I would NEVER use the digital zoom feature. All a digital zoom does is electronically crop the image in the camera which can be done easier and better once the images are uploaded to your computer. Digital zoom usually produces images of greatly reduced quality. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
