1996 chevy 1500 z71. Keeps blowing fuse when trying to use push button 4 wheel drive. Note: 4- Low and 4-Hi stay lit and blinking before fuse blows. New actuator. New switch on transfer case. New transfer case motor. New push button.

You'll probably need a shop manual to find out what is protected by that fuse. Could be a component or a problem in the wiring harness.

sounds like it is . try doing it in neutral than putting it in gear in driving if that works than the switch is bad.

i push 4 wheel button 4 wheel dose not go in

Check the 4WD fuse and the illumination fuse in the I/P fuse block. Also check the Transfer Case Switch and the Front Axle Actuator for a fault. I would say that the Front Axle Actuator is the most common failure. I think there is even an updated actuator asy available. Check with you local chevy dealer for price and availability.

try selecting from nutreul or less then 3km

check connections on gearbox may need cleaning

It's the transfer case vacuum switch. Easy fix.

Have you checked the switch on the transfer case? Those switches tend to go bad and primarily operated the 4 wheel Hi.

Check the solenoid at the front axel. This is a rather common prob. First check that power is at the axel, got power, clean and put it back. Please do not even look at the tranfer case! At worst you may need to replace the axel solenoid! Frankster016

I have a 1996 Silverado 4x4 Z71 and evry time a hit the 4 wheel drive button it blows the fuse . Any answers ?
