Dell latitude D 610 battery dead

I need a new battery for my dell latitude but it has been fine working on AC power until the other day. It won't turn on at all now even when plugged in. Is it just because I need a new battery or is there another problem?

Hello,

dell latitude batteries have a built-in battery life indicator on it. Press the button to see how much charge is left or if there's no charge at all. It sounds like your power adapter isn't charging
your battery. visit: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/batteryconfig.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&manufact=694&s=dhs&stype=4&family=Latitude%20Laptops and choose the model of your latitude laptop.
u can get it cheaper on ebay or any 3rd party vendor. hope this helps.

Dell Latitude D810. I bought a new powr supply from dell. I keep getting a popup saying that it cannot determine the AC power adapter. Also, my battery is dead.

Hello,

You will get this error when you get a newer power supply than what was originally design for the Latitude, also when the unit came from a 3rd party supplier not on Dell's OEM supplier list, and your battery will some what solve this upon getting a new one.

As for the pop up itself, no harm. Just a nusance. You should be able to turn this off in the Administrator file and select services. Look for power management and deselect monitor AC power.

Good Luck.

How do I get my computer to recognized my new ac power adapter?

The computer doesn't need any drivers to recognize an AC Adapter. If you have purchased the correct AC Adapter for your laptop then it should just work when you plug it in. If it does not then my guess is either you have received a faulty AC Adapter or the DC Jack which you plug into in the back of the laptop is bad.
I am assuming your battery is dead and when you plug it in and turn it on nothing happens?
You can also try taking the battery out and try to power it on with the AC Adapter plugged in.

The Dell Latitude D610 takes a PA-10 or PA12 AC Adapter. It's 65W or 90W

For 90 watt Adapter the output voltage on your AC Adapter label should read 19.5V and 4.62A
At least that's what the Dell brand reads so it should be close to that.

When I unplug the printer from my Dell Latitude D610 laptop, the battery icon appears on the bottom right hand corner instead of the "ON AC power" icon and the computers shut down due to a low battery....

Your AC power supply is not providing power - The printer is supplying your laptop with power via the usb port. When you unplug the printer, the laptop runs on battery until it goes dead. You will need another AC power supply,

Good Luck

the batteries eventually wear out and quit taking a charge. You can run the system without a battery with no ill effects. replacements are about $100 for a new battery

if you plug in to charge your battery and its not charging replace the battery with a new one and a ac adaptor plug, just to avoid any more damage to your pc notebook, dont try to repair if you are unsure on what to do

if you are sure that both power adapters are fine and it is still not working then you may have an internal fault or the pin inside may be damaged..
