SOURCE: Recovery Commander Starts always and annoys me.

This problem usually happens, ehen you do not do the Shut Down process properly.
Close or save( if modified ) the document or spreadsheet. Then close the program before you shutdown the computer going through the Shutdown command instead of the OFF Switch.Hope this will solve your problem.

You cannot download Windows XP unfortunately. You may be able to purchase a copy on Ebay. You will need your own installation key which should be on a sticker attached to your PC.

Down laod xp recovery disk

If you're running Windows XP and Windows crashes or becomes unusable, you may have to run a Windows XP recovery setup disk to make your computer usable again. When purchased, many computers don't come with a Windows XP recovery setup disk, but you can download one for free from Microsoft. The Windows XP recovery setup disk holds the computer software and files that you need to assist you in rebuilding your operating system.

Place a formatted floppy disk in your floppy disk drive. You will need six formatted floppy disks. Visit Microsoft's Download Center and download the version of the setup disk for your version of Windows (see links in Resources). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=E8FE6868-6E4F-471C-B455-BD5AFEE126D8 Home Edition http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8030 Professional Edition set up disks for floppy http://www.download3000.com/download_17676.html XP Recovery CD Maker Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional Edition have their own recovery setup disks and you must use the correct disk for your version of Windows. Click "Download" and then "Save." Find your floppy drive or optical media drive on the menu and click "OK." If Windows isn't functioning at all, you will have to perform these actions from a working PC. Remove the last floppy disk when the Windows XP recovery disk download is complete and place it in the computer on which you need to use it. Shut down your computer and then turn it back on. If your computer prompts you to boot from the disk, press Enter. If it doesn't, you'll have to go into your BIOS to set the computer to boot first from your disk drive. When your computer boots from disk it will automatically start running the Windows XP recovery setup disk from which you can then set up Windows XP. Hope this helps.

I HAVE A 6 YEAR OLD DELL WITH SP 2. IS THAT THE LATEST UPGRADE?

Hi,

The latest service pake for XP is SP3, you can download and install it by performing a Microsoft Update by clicking on the the start menu and above where it says "All Programs" look for Windows/Microsoft Update.

Once SP3 is installed i recommend you perform another MS update to update SP3.

Regards.

On March 6, 2008 Microsoft released Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. Service Pack 3 contains all of the important Windows updates from previous service packs as well as additional updates that were released after Service Pack 2. To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 from the Internet on a home desktop computer use the Windows Update feature. CAUTION: If you have an HP Pavilion, HP Media Center or Compaq Presario desktop computer that has an AMD processor, your PC might encounter a startup problem after installing SP3 (or SP3 will not download from Windows Update). Before attempting to install SP3, install sp37394 - Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility for systems with AMD processors . Scratching on glossy photo paper

Unfortunately, you may have to revert back to SP2. the thing with sp3 is that it can act and work completely different from computer to computer depending on what software you have installed on it and what build of XP you have (ie home/pro) The only other alternative is to uninstall software, reboot and see if the problem persists. this way you may be able to find the program interfering with the performance of your printer.
