Lexmark installation my installation cd wont work can i get printer working with out it

First, I would check to see that the USB or serial connector is installed properly from the printer to the PC. If that is good, then I would make sure to install the printer driver and the printer software from the Lexmark CD. You can use the Lexmark Solution Center to trouble shoot further (this is the software that comes with the printer).

did you leave the Printer disconnected until the software told you to connect it? This is usually the most common problem with Lexmark printer installation. If you connect the printer then try to install teh software it usually wont work. Also did you install the correct drivers for Win2K. You might try going to the lexmark website and checking to see if they have an up dated driver for your OS. The disc that comes with a new Lexmark may not have the correct driver for Win2K on it.

First thing you need to do is uninstall the current software and printer.

Then go to: X1100 Series Driver

Select your operating system...Vista...from the drop down menu.

The next page has the link to download the driver. (It should be cjrX1100EN.exe. Click on "Download Now".

When you begin the download and the download window appears, select "Save" and direct the download to save to your desktop.

After the download is complete, close all the windows, or other programs.

Make sure your printer is ON but also that the USB cable is DISCONNECTED. Double-click the file on your desktop that you downloaded. When prompted by the software, connect your USB cable.

That should do it. If you run into any problems, just comment back.

• Find a friend or place of business with the same printer and copy their CD. Some CDs cover several models of printer.
• Look up the setup program and drivers on the web.

Hi.  HAve you installed the necessary drivers on the new computer?  If you have lost the CD you can find the drivers on the Lexmark website.
