Disk boot failure means the operating system has files either missing or corrupt and without a system disk you cannot recover easily. I suggest you speak to a dealer for advice and get a system recovery disk sorted out.
Hope that helps a bit.

How can I a boot disk system failure on my Asus without a system disc?

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Compaq screen comes on, then goes to black screen with "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter" I don't have a sytem disk, where can I get one?

This would depend on which OS you are trying to install. Also, if the system booted before and you are receiving this message you probably have a bad hard drive or corrupted system files. There are free operating systems out there such as Unix and Linux, or you can go through Microsoft and get the OEM disc for your preferred operating system. If you do not want to puchase the OEM disc yourself then you can also go through a pc repair shop and have them do an OS reinstall. Hope this helps, let me know if I can assist you with anything else.

System restore disc 1 erased & overwrote hard drive. Second disc won't start. All i get is a lengthy paragraph that boils down to : MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE. PXE M0F: EXITING PXE ROM.\r\n ...

Your computer is using the network-connection to try to connect a "network boot server", to try to load a bootable image across the network.

The 'MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE' is the error-message when no "network boot server" responds to a "network boot request".

The 'EXITING PXE ROM' message is the exit from the P(re) (e)X(ecution) E(nvironment) part of the R(ead) O(nly) M(emory) inside your computer, since the "network boot" did not proceed.

So, insert "Restore Disk #1" and restart your computer, and FORCE it to "boot" from the CD-ROM device -- not from the disk-drive. When prompted, insert "Restore Disk #2" to continue the reinstallation of Windows. When prompted, remove the disk from the CD-ROM device, and restart your computer.

Note that it's also possible that your disk-drive is "dying" -- any attempts to install Windows on it have FAILED. Thus, any time to "boot" from those "not-written" files will cause problems.

DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

your system either does not detect a bootable disk, or the HDD has failed. Disconnect any floppy disk, USB storage devices connected to the computer and make sure the HDD with an OS installed is the primary boot device. If you get the same error, remove and reconnect the hard drive. If all else fails, try repairing or reinstalling Windows. If nothing works, you may need to get a new HDD.

My siste in laws Dell laptop quit after her daughter had used it, neither know what happened but the computer powers on and then a message like, error disc failure or disc read failure something like that...

Hi Debbie!

It sounds like you dell trying to boot up from a disk.

Get in the bios and change the boot seqvence from cd to hdd (harddisk)

Before that, check so the cdrom is empry, so the girl dident forget a disk or something in the cg-sledge.

If the cd-sledge is empty then the bios change will solve our problem.

Good luck
Nic

Disk boot failure

Hi,

Technically you can copy all the data from one to another hdd but not the operating system

You have to install your operating system (windows, linux or MAC) on your new 500gig hdd and then copy your data from 60gig hdd.

How install windows nt work station 4.0

Before deleting your current windows version, you should do a "wipe disk" for you hard drive.
This requires that you be able to get to the program in windows that will allow you to do that.
otherwise, you need to go online and find a good program that is freeware and download that.
Look for a boot disc creator and one that has "wipe disk" feature in the same program.
www.download.com is a good website to look for one.
The disk boot failure is probably due to having or having had windows 98 on the comuter.
If you are going to load wondows nt, then you need a program that is compatable with it and then make a boot disc.
