SOURCE: I have a viewsonic pj510 that has worked fine for months.

Hi Leo7

Try right clicking on your desktop and going to properties.

Then go to advanced and check in the window with the two screens in it if the secondary screen/monitor is attached - it should be attached.

SOURCE: my hp laptop plays the dvd but the viewsonic does

Try pressing the "Fn" function key, holding it and pressing a key on the laptop in the "F" series that either says CRT/LCD or something similar to get it to show up on the projector. Let me know if you are still having trouble.

How do i access the air filter on the PJ551?

Air-Filter
Cleaning the Air Filter
The air filter should be cleaned as described below at intervals of approximately 100 hours. When
the filter is used for approximately 100 hours, the message "CLEAN THE AIR FILTER" appears
when the projector is switched on.
1 Switch the projector power supply OFF, and remove the power cord from the power outlet.
2 Clean the air filter with a vacuum cleaner.
3 Reset the Filter Timer using the function of the FILTER TIME on the OPTION Menu. Please
refer to the description of the "FILTER TIME" on the Table 9: MAIN Menu.
Replacing the Air Filter
Replace the air filter if contamination cannot be removed, or if it is damaged. To order a new air
filter see page 26 for contact information.
1 Switch the projector power OFF, and remove the power cord from the power outlet.
2 Remove the filter cover and the filter.
3 Replace the new air-filter and the filter cover.
4 Reset the Filter Timer using the function of the FILTER TIME on the OPTION Menu. Refer to
the description of the "FILTER TIME" on Table 9: MAIN Menu.

"clean and reset filter" alert is displayed even

You can reset the "Filter Time" on your projector and it will clear this error out of the system.

1) Clean Filter
2) Turn the power on
3) Hit the Menu button
4) Once the menu appears choose "Options"
5) Choose "Filter Time"
7) While the time is displayed hold the "Reset" button on the remote for 3 seconds
8) The "Reset" menu will pop-up and choose reset.

That should take care of it.

My viewsonic pj400 projector switches itself off

hello

i have the same problem, a clear image, the the projector shuts down, turn the fan on, and "lamp" blinks.

i returned my projector to viewsonic service center, they told me to change the lamp.

the problem is that a lamp is very expensive!

You may need to purchase a new AIR-FILTER, but try this -

What you have to do ... on te remonte control click the MENU button:

Next scroll down to the Filter option and hold down the RESET button on the remote control until a wondow pops up asking you to reset. This should fix your problem, if this doesn't than purchase a new AIR-FILTER remove the old one and install the new filter; then try to reset it again.

I hope this was helpful.
