Engine won't turn over (by 5 users)

posted by jlj93byu on Jun 16, 2008

My engine won't turn over when attempting to start the car. Battery appears just fine but tried jumping it just in case and it didn't help. Possibly an issue with the starter? How would I check?
I have the same problem.

1994 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 2wd AT w/ a new starter, neutral switch and ignition switch to boot, but when I turn the key over I now get no dash lights and the starter doesn't even turn over. I thought I my have installed the switch wrong or something. I'm wondering if the knock sensor is causing it. Any help from anyone I mean this SUV isn't hard to work on.

I talked to a buddy's boss who is pretty mechanical, he said it sounds like the fuel pump. Gas just isn't getting to the engine to make it turn over.

I can't get my engine to turn over. Battery and alternator have both been checked and are fine. No problems with any cables that I've been able to find either. Could this be a bad starter or fuse? Jumping does'nt work either.
