It could be the clips on the heatsing are loose and allowing the heatsink to vibrate.

Replace fan Lenovo 7781

There may be as many as 3 or even 4 fans in your computer. The one I see make noise most often is in the power supply. It's easier to replace the whole power supply than to attempt surgery on it. Spend enough to get a decent one, they're easy to replace.

It is not your processor that is making extra noise it is your Heat sink fan for the processor. Your laptop is shutting down due to an over heating problem. My solution is to always keep the vents on the sides and bottom of the laptop open to free air. If the problem still persists, i would recommend buying a laptop cooler. Amazon has some good ones for cheap.

The fan on the processor keeps coming on real loud

The fan is supposed to come on to cool the processor but if it is making excessive noise then I would buy a new one before that one give up completely and you damage your processor. they are cheap enough to buy on line, you might need the motherboard make & the processor you are using to get the correct replacement but you can get CPU fans that have universal fittings in which case you would only need to know what processor you have.

When my netbook is on charge why does it sound like the processor is over worked?

Your processor doesn't make noise. The noise you are hearing is most likely the fan. If it is the fan, the noise is because the processor is overheating which may be caused by the collection of dust or the computer sitting on a soft surface such as a couch or a bed and blocking the vent. Some computers just have very loud fans.

One of my fans has started making noise, how much time do i have to replace it? Am I right in thinking that it making noise that it needs to be replaced?

fan noises are usually caused by worn out fans. but can be also caused by IDE/power cables hitting the fan blades. you will have to open up the computer to see where the noise comes from.

if it is a faulty fan, replace it sooner than later as it will get louder and louder. then stop making noise all together when the fan fails.

My Acer Aspire T180 seems to run warm and the machine makes alot of noise, it sppeds up and then slows down. Any suggestions.

There are two things you can do for the possible overheating...first that fan noise is normal for a fan to speed up and slow down depending on the signal it is getting from the processor. Get a few cans of compressed air that you can buy at an office supply store. Use short bursts of air and blow out the heatsink ventilation fans, etc. Open the cd/dvd slot or tray and blow that device out, open the access doors on the base of the laptop and clean them out. If you have access to the heatsink itself you can get some thermal grease, take the heatsink off the processor, wipe the heatsink off and the processor and put a very small "erasor tip" size dot of grease on the processor and spread it thin. Place the heatsink back in place and tighten the screws in an even sequence.

The fan is making a lot of noise. this has

Is the laptop dirty inside?

If it hasn't been cleaned out regularly, with a can of compressed air for computers, more than likely it is.

Laptops typically have a poor cooling design. For one, everything is crammed into a tiny box.
For two, there is a small duct, (Air Intake Duct), that draws air in.
For three, laptops typically just have 1 small fan.
For four, the Air Intake Duct is located on the bottom of a laptop, or on the side.
This is an excellent (?) area to draw foreign debris in. Another word for foreign debris, would be CRUD.

Hair, Food Crumbs, Lint, Dirt, Dust, and so on.

A laptop's cooling systems primary function is to keep the Processor at a certain temperature. If the processor becomes too HOT, it turns off. (BIOS turns it off)
NO Processor, No computer!

1.The excessive fan noise can be that the fan is spinning at top rate, trying to keep the processor cool. It's having a hard time doing that, because the fan cannot draw enough air in. (Clogged Cooling System with Crud)

2.The excessive fan noise could be that the fan's bearings are bad.

3.The excessive fan noise could be that the Processor is running at 100 percent, (100%), and the fan is running at full speed, in order to keep the processor cool.
Perhaps caused by a virus, or some sort of anti-virus program, or running more than one virus program. (Installed a new anti-virus program lately?)

I had a similar problem with excessive fan noise on my Dell Dimension 5150. The solution was to replace the worn heat sync compound that was between the cpu and the heat sync itself. (£0.99 ebay)
