Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Help me willtab guru man...Please.

I just changed the light hoping this would fix the problem. When theproblem first occurred, I could barely make out the picture, and it wasvery green and jumpy (but I could still see spider man on TV with the 5 big vertical lines). I called tech supportand they said unplug the TV and plug it in after about 5 minutes. I didthat and now it went from bad to worse. No picture at all. I have whiteand black static on the screen that also has a green tint. I have 5vertical evenly spaced lines. The big 3 inch lines consist of about 10skinny lines. I can put the TV on air-antenna, Satelite, DVD, NindendoWii, and the greenish static follows all components. When I hit "menu"on the TV remote, all menu options are crystal clear. Set-up, channel, sound, etc...all perfect picture...Just a problem with the actualpicture on all components. Please help if possible.

    willtab,

    Thank you for the response.

    I have a 60" Samsung DLP HLR6167w

I turned it on again last night and I found more details.

The attached picture is what it looks like when it's on. It looks like that for 15 seconds then freezes. When it freezes I can't turn the TV off/on nor navigate through the TV's menu (it freezes also) Then the screen goes black like it's turned off. I look at the back of the TV and the light bulb seems to still be on.

    Willtab is a genius!!!!!

I tightned the monitor type cable and my TV had a perfect signal. I then moved the TV from the coffee table back to it's original location and the problem came back. At this point the cable was as tight on both ends as it would go. I guess I need to try and replace that cable and see what happens.

    Thanks!!!

What is the make and model of your television.. green tint and vertical lines indicat a problem with the light engine..although the clear menu says otherwise..im not sure what type tv you have. lcd plasma change the light im guessing you mean bulb .. this indicates to me you have a dlp. but green tint to me indicates a tube projection type tv... so im just guessing hear. vertical lines also indicate a bad buffer board on a plasma or lcd. so let me know what you have

Your picture indicates to me a dvi signal problem... the menu are generated in the light engine. There is a large cable between the signal and the light engine.. often called dvi... sort the hdmi cable. check to see if this is loose. usally has two screws much like a monitor cable....

My 2003 grand am's emergency flasher is clicking intermittantly and sporadically without being turned on. have replaced the flasher hazard switch/module, but it didn't fix the problem.

Hello! The Hazard Switch/Module connector has the following wires of interest...Pin G=Dark Blue (right side lights)...Pin F=Light Blue/Black (left side lights)...Pin H= Purple (flasher battery)...And Pin A=Black (ground)...In order for the lights to flash, without pressing the switch, Flasher Battery must be applied to Pins G and/or F...When the problem occurs are all external lights flashing or just one side? Visually inspect the connector for bent pins and the harness for bare or frayed wires...If you have a multimeter and a wee bit of experience using it; Set the ohm meter to X10 scale...Measure from Pin A (black wire) to the center of the negative battery post...Reading should be zero ohms or very close to it...Send results...

Tip

Willtab, You are the man! I printed out your instructions. Went to RadioShack...

FL231. FUSE.... The RCA ITC222 chasis has a common problem. and it not all that difficult to repair. Does your rca projection tv have read blue and green shadows? Does it have bowing in affect on the top and bottom of picture? when you turn it on does some thin red green and blue line bow in from the top then go away. The main question to determine if you have the fl231 fuse problem is if you go into customer menu then setup do you have the "CONVERGENCE' option. If you do not. then i suspect you have this problem. In the manufactering of these sets Lead free solder is used. now there is great debate over the use of lead free. connection tend to be more brittle. cracks develop around the solder connections of the high voltage flyback transformer. this very small crack set up oscillations in the cuicit with a 400 milliamp fuse. THis fuse cant take it. When this fuse blows the processor then does not know its a projection tv with three projection tubes. it thinks its a crt tube tv. and crt tube tv dont need "convergence" so it removes the convergence from the set.

TO REPAIR... 1. Warning. this set can generate leathal dangerous voltages even unplug do not attempt if you have no experence with electronics.
2. Remove the back. there a number of torx 20 screws.
3. what you will see is a number of circit boards There will be one on the right and one on the left. the one on the right is the small signal board. the one on the left is called the power deflection board. it has a large black part with a big red or black wire coming from the top, this is the flyback.Next to the flyback on the right of it there will be three small rectangular componets tan or brown in color. these are fuses. the one in the middle is the fl231 fuse.
4. getting to this fuse can be difficult. these two cuicit boards sit on a tray that is removable. to remove this tray it is pulled out and up. BUt watch the wires.loosen the wire tyes.
5 when you get the tray up the bottom side of the board can be accessed
you will now have to unsolder that fuse. one side of this fuse is under a plastic part of the tray. i have found the easest way is to cut away the plastic to get to it. if you dont want to do this you will have to remove the board. only remove half of the plastic brace
6. REPLACE FUSE RCA PART 259213
7 RESOLDER FLYBACK CONNECTIONS simply heat up and add a little solder
8 reassemble set. make sure you examine the set for loose connections.
9 and remember "BE Careful'

Hello! The Turn/Hazard Switch is defective...Replace switch...Let's check the vehicle grounding just to be sure...If you have a multimeter set in on the lowest ohm scale...Place one probe on the center of the negative battery post...The other probe to bare metal chassis...Record reading...Move probe from bare metal chassis to the engine block...

My Sony KDF-60Xs955 rear projection has a blueish green tint on the screen. it is really noticable during darker scenes and is distoring the colors in other pictures. A tech came out and tried to adjust...

this is normally either a color calibration (easy) or a light adjustment(if burnt out very bad)

for the color calibration you want to go into your menu setting and look for the color calibration menu it should give you two cross hairs to align causing a different color yellow red is orange green is blue yellow and so on after ensuring all theese setting are correct your best bet is going to be taking it to or having a television repair man come to you to check the bulbs hopefully if just an adjustment needs to be made cost should be minimal unfortunately if a light is burnt out its usually cheaper to buy a new tv

hope this helps
please leave feedback
thanks
