Question about Panasonic DVD & Blu-Ray Players

My Panasonic DMR-E85H only displays "PLEASE WAIT". That's all it does. I've tried to power off and on and unplugged the unit. No response.

Time to replace it. I assume you have used this for a while. Common problems with these.
Good luck,

Repairing this will cost more then it is most likely worth, being it's used. You would have much more success purchasing a replacement.
Good luck and as always keep us posted,
    Lee

suspicion is you have a bad connection from the board under your dvd
tray to the hard drive and that you can end all the turmoil
simply by removing the cable and reinstalling it. K

else it can be the capacitors problem
    and the specifications are

    1000µF 35V 20% Radial-lead Electrolytic Capacitor

    Model: 272-1032

    Catalog #: 272-1032

    $1.59

Try holding the Channel Up and Down buttons on the unit at the same
time. If you can get it to reset, set your clock manually and turn DST
    OFF.

this has solved the problem for few people

Hi,

Panasonic Tech Support says the "PLEASE WAIT" means the E85H is too sick to get to SELF-CHECK.

You will need to replace some capacitors to fix this up which requires a physical presence of a tech.So the only solution to fix this problem is to get it repaired.

If you need anymore help let me know.

My DMR-E85H has been showing ''PLEASE WAIT'' for days now! It does not come on to record or play back

I just repaired this unit with the replacement filtering capacitors. This is a widely known problem. Hope this helps.

There is an article that addresses this very error and it has to do with the power supply filtering capacitors. I just repaired a unit and the fellow that brought into me said this a widely known problem. I replaced three of the capacitors ... two had leaked and the last one was bulging. Works fine now.

If you have questions or would like your unit repaired send me a note.

"Please wait" ... panasonic dmr-e85h seems frozen

Have you tried unplugging it for a couple of minutes?

Pan. dmr-e85h turned itself on, self-check

Open case and look for failed capacitors, which are cylindrical and will have a bulging top and a yellow/gold substance leaking out. If this is the problem, search for previous solutions that mention "solder capacitor C1260" for the DMR-E85. I had a similar 'no power' problem with my DMR-E55 and my son and I were able to fix it Sunday. Not hard to do and mine is working again!

DVD Recorder frozen - please wait on display

You need to replace the STR-G6353 voltage regulator on the power supply board. Full proceedure with photos at this link: http://www.rbjtech.net/electrical/e85/e85.htm#0 I did this on my DMR-E85H and it now works like new.
