Radio just stops reception. I need to hit it on top to get reception and then it fades out.
Have trouble getting both speakers to work balanced, have to wiggle radio, CD, tape switch to get both to work.
When I want to play a CD I have to turn the volume up to full strength and wiggle the black and red contacts in back of the unit to get reception.

It sounds like your unit has a LOT of broken solder connections and dirty potentiometers. Unless you are VERY good at soldering and want to invest about 1 to 2 hours of time, I would toss it and start fresh.
