Sounds like the flash tube is bad. Another possibility would be a bad flash capacitor or circuit. Has the camera been impacted - especially around the flash? Another possibility is that the light tube that goes from the frame around the tube to the sensor further back in the flash base has come loose or impact has broken the frame. Pop up the flash. Underneath there are two screws; remove the screws, push the flash back down and using a slim piece of metal pop off the flash cover. You can then see the tube and the light pipe (looks like a thick black wire) and the sensor located at the back on the right. Be very careful. There can be over 300 volts across the flash tube - do not touch!!!
Hello Ray, This is not something a user wants to attempt !!! The camera really needs to be repaired by a tech. You will do more harm than good by trying to fix it yourself and will cost even more if you damage something.
hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...thank u!!! rate me!!
does the flash pop up? Try this in a dark room with the setting on automatic. If it does NOT pop up, the problem is that the flash is stuck in some way. Try gently prying it up if you can. if not, take it into a camera repair shop to get it fixed.
Press the FN button under the toggle on right side of LCD screen. You will see white balance on left. Toggle down to the "flash" symbol". Should work a treat now. If not using flash go to FN again and raise ISO.(Don"t forget to go to Auto white balance again!!)
