Hi we have just acquired an Amana sbde 520s side by side fridge from friends who are moving overseas. It didn't come with a manual and we would like to understand the front panel and possibly connect it to a temporary water supply. Can you assist us with any helpful information. Thanks - Deb

Anything with a compressor in it should always be left for 24 hours standing upright then you can plug it in

Check fan which blows cool to fridge compartment is working. Check fridge is defrosted automatically. If not do it manually and check, there will be cooling in fridge compartment. Over frosting will cover up the fan throw behind the freezer. If not auto defrost works, switch off and restart after 5 minutes. Still auto defrost problem, do it manually or replace board.

the unit has a higher heat load than normal after being off for a time. the compressor draws alot of amps and could easily trip a ground fault cb. The breaker should have a ground wire hooked into the back of the breaker that is connected to the nuetral or ground bar. this wire should be at least 12 guage wire if it is on a 15amp breaker

Probably the fan that moves the cold air not working.

It sounds like the same problem my brother is having with his. I took it apart and found that the fan that moves all the air for cooling is not working. This fan is behind the bottom panel in the freezer side, and sorry you do have to take everything out to get to it.

its quite possible, that "the box with thermostat and small door fix on chanel for regulating cold air from freezer in fridge side", is not the problem, there can be a few diff problems, the fan in the freezer may n ot be blowing the air over, you may have a bad defrost thermostat, preventing proper defrost cycles and building up with ice preventing proper air flow. i would look into a little more before condemning the part your lookin at( damper control)
