Question about 2wire (1000-000057-000) Modem

Open Question

Stay with me on this one! We have upgraded our 2WIRE 2701HGV-W router to a THOMSON TG782T, both through Bigpond. I want to use the 2701 as a wireless hub so I can remotely locate a desktop tower in another room and not have to buy any new hardware. Is this possible? I have plugged the 2701 into the stand alone tower via ethernet cable, but the management webpage doesn't register the wireless network being managed by the THOMSON.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: connecting a network printer to 2wire 2701HGV-w

This is a little tricky technically it your printer isn't made to go onto the network, but you and do one of to things... let me start with the most cost effective way and that is

1. Hook your Printer up to a computer that is already on the network and then go into windows and SHARE that printer giving access to all the computers to print to it that you need to. I don't know what Operating System you have so your going to have to give more information to get clarification on exactly what you need to do in the Operating System to share the printer. The CONS of this approach is that you can only print to that printer when that computer is on. So if you want to have continuous ability to print to that printer you will have to keep your computer on.

2. You can get what they call a Print Server... and connect it to your printer and your network.. turning your printer into a network printer. Of course you might need to get more detail depending on what Print Server you choose. The Cons of this approach is that ofcourse your going to have to buy more equipment... but the pro's are you won't have to keep other computers on in the network to print to it. One last note you will find Print Servers in the store where you find Routers and Hubs.

The best of luck to you... and I hope this Helps... after you decide which way you want to go you might want to contact me or one of the other techs to get more percise approaches to installing your equipment... but we will need to know you Operating System, and the Print Server... if you go that route. Good Luck! I hope this works for you!!!

Sincerely,

Hi,
You need to enable the wireless capability of your router. Please read from page 29 of this manual.
http://www.thomsonbroadbandpartner.com/getfile.php?id=6978
You will need to know the administrator password of your Thomson TG782T.

I have just connected a ThomsonTG 782T router and I cannot get my file share Shareaza to go. I have tried to fix ports with no luck - what do I do? I was able to do it to my old DLink GST604T wish I had...

Hi - I received the Thomson free with my signing up with Bigpond. The IP address in my computer 10.0.0.2 would not come up on my browser. I typed in to google thomson TG782T user manual (which I did not get with Bigpond) there I found the Thomson IP address 10.0.0.138 - and when I typed in that it connected to be browser (but it is 10.0.0.2)_ they have configured it to stop anyone disabling the firewall and also not to be able to use VOIP. I think my only solution is to buy another modem/router and wish I had stayed with my DLink GS...........Regards, Robyne

Instead of walking you through it here, it will be much simpler (for me, and probably you too!) if I link you to the most informative database on the subject ..and a page dedicated to your 2WIRE:

Check if it's recognised on the local area network etc, make sure driver is installed and you may need to reset all pc,router etc to get connection. Now remember you need a router for this to work, with only a modem it will not function. You also need to restart all instruments etc before it's picked up by the router and the network..Google a bit and it will solve this.Make sure it uses wifi and not bluetooth as then it will need the right bluetooth connection to your pc..

Network printer now not working

If the printer was working before on an old router then when you installed the new router it changed the IP address of the printer. You can delete the old printer and go to add a printer, select network printer, choose browse for printers and it should show up in the list. When you select it the new address will be assigned. Good Luck
